Danville, Va., April 18. The Vir
ginia conference of the African Meth
odist Episcopal church Seuth has con
cluded its labors. Yesterday Bishop
Daniel A. Payne, D. D. (colored), preach
ed by invitation at the Main street -Methodist
Episcopal church (white), which is
the largest and wealthiest church of
that denomination in Virginia.- Bishop
Payne as formerly president of
the Wilberferce university in Ohie.
He was assisted yesterday in the services
by Prof. Jehns from the West Indies, and
Elder Lloyd, both colored. The chereh
was filled witb white and colored people.
The new Episcopal church in this city
just finished was occupied yesterday for
worship for the first time. It ia probably
the most elegant church in the city.

named Frank Knize. On that evening he
ate freely of perk which was net well
cooked. About two hours after he grew
violently sick and terrible pains spread ever

trichinosis, and upon submitting a small
piece of llcsh te the microscepical test, en
a net work of small muscles 17 trichina;
were found. Proper remedies were ad
ministered and the patient is slowly im
proving. Knize refuses te state from
whom Tin purchased the perk.
Reunion et the Array at the Potomac.
New Yerk, April 18. The twelfth
annual reunion of the society of the army
of the Potomac will be held at Hartferd
Conn., en June 8. Majer General II. G.
Wiiaht will preside. The Legislature e(
Connecticut J has voted the use of the
capitol for the meetings of the society and
the several corps. Daniel Dougherty of
Philadelphia, will be the oiater, and
Capt. B. Sumner, of Bridgeport, the poet
of the occasion. It is expected that Presi
dent Garfield and Generals Sherman,
Sheridan, Slecuni and ether distinguished
officers will be present.
A Rejected Lever's Suicide.
Pottsville, Pa., April 18. Benjamin
Bahme, aged 24, the son of a wealthy
farmer liviug at Rearing Creek, Columbia
county, was informed yesterday by his
affianced (a Miss Leng) that she could net
many him. Breeding under the disap
pointment Bahme fatally shot himself
through the temple.
Knocked off a Bridge.
Coxcerd, N. II., April 18. While at
work repairing a bridge en the
Montreal railroad at East Concord
yesterday forty men were swept off the
bridge by the swinging round of a large
piece of timber, and fell 15 feet te the
track beneath. Four of them were seri
ously injured.
