I sometimes dream of life In the tall meaning of that splendid word ; lis subtle music, which few men hare beard Though all may hear It sounding tureugh earth's strife; Its lelty heights by mystle breezes kissed. Lifting thlr lovely peaks above the lst ; Its treasures that no touch or time can rust ; Its etteraid seas. Us dawn et amethyst ; Its certain purpose, in sorene repose ; Its usefulness that finds no hours for woes This Is my dream of life. Yes, I havt'tff earns. I eftlmes dream of love. As radiant and brilliant as a star As ehanjjcless, tee, as that fixed light star That glorifies vast worlds of space above, Streng as the tempest when It holds its breath Ilctore it bursts in lury and as deep As the unfathomed seas, where let worlds sleep. And sad as birth, and beautiful as death, As lervent as the iendcbt soul could crave, Yet holy as the moonlight en a grave This is my dream ei love Y-, yes, 1 dream. One eJt recurring dream Is beautiful and comforting and blest, Complete with certain premises et rest. Divine content, and happiness supreme ; When the btrauge essence, author et all faith That sublime something, that cries for the Light, Like a lest child that wanders In the night, Shallselve the mighty mystery of death Shall find eternal progress, or sublime And satisfying slumber for all time This is my dream of death Ella Wheeler. It was lowering all day long though, and in the evening it commenced te rain. The river is rising slowly JIusscr & Miller have been gathering the boom legs that were caught recently. They have them all rolled ever from the river en the canal bank, ready te put in the canal, that theynuay he floated up te their mill. There arc quite a number ei them. Jehn Greh made a mis-peur of melted iron at the hollewwarc works en Wednes day, and burned his feet pretty severely. 6am Miller is in town for the remainder of the week. He then will return te take a position in McKelway's drug store en Chestnut street, abeve Bread, Philadel phia. Rev. J. AY. McElmoyle has bought a horse that belonged te Peter Miller, of Denegal. Mr. James Duffy is in town again after his trip te the sunny Southern clime. He leeks well. Seme one says the term hubby " comes from hub, the part of a wheel that it is easiest te get around, and is applied te a married man because he is se easy te get around when such endearing terms arc applied. Jacob Mumma sent his usual carload of cattle yesterday, lie manages te send about a carload a week during the sea son. Mr. Theodere Thompson made a short visit te town and has returned. Mrs. Thompson accompanied him aud has re mained here. The fi.h Hatching Houses.. The Denegal fish hatchery has been dis tributing German carp throughout the state, haviug placed them in about forty di lie rent counties. They come from Wash ingteu city, as the Denegal establishment has net been in operation during the win ter, en account of scaicity of water. Thej also put some black bass in Crawford and Butler counties for the game and fish asse uiatiens. The German carp is put in ponds. They will live where no ether fish will exist, for they subsist en vegetable feed, aud arc among the few species that bore into the ground in winter time. Tins is a habit of the bav alv and was the cause el the less of thousands of them during the break up of the river, the ice having dug them out and killed them. A large number was seen filiating by. Xexs week Mr. Krcvliug, the manager at Done Dene gal, will put out abaut 143,000 trout, 45,000 of which they managed te raise notwithstanding the scarcity of water. Around the World In tLjtity Mays." The " monster production of the most stupendous of all spectacular dramas, 'Around the World in Eighty Days,'" turned out te be a very peer show after all. The acting was about as had as it could possibly be, the gorgeous scenic and mechanical effects upon which the presen tation of M. Verne's work hinges in such large measure, consisted of two or three tolerably wellpainted scenes which theconi theceni pauy brought with them and the perform ance, all iu all, was such a weak one that by the time it was ever the large audicuce that had been attracted te the opera house by the reputation of the piece gained at such places as Nible's and Kiralfy's gar dens, was pretty thoroughly disgusted. It by no means compared with the preduc tieu of the same work by Kiralfy's troupe in this city a few years age. The one redeeming point, if it may be described as such, was the dancing of Mile. Adele Paglicri, who, at the head of a small corps dc ballet treated the audience tea fine exhibition of her art. and was rewarded by repeated bursts e! applause. Hew te Felith a Shirt Frent. First boil "your starch (some use it un un eoiled), and some skill should be display ed in making the starch of the proper con sistency. The besom of the garment should be thoroughly saturated with starch upon both sides and rubbed be tween the bands. Everything depends upon the starching, for if net well done it will blister when pehshed. The shirt is new rolled up and laid away for a couple of hours. The shirt is next ironed en a covered beard. The besom is ironed until dry, always moving the iron at first down ward and never the reverse. When you arc ready te polish, place the besom et the garment ever an uncovered beard of hard weed, birch beiug considered the bust. A small part of the shirt front is polished at one time and this place is first dampened with a wet cloth. The polishing iron should be het and moved quiekly back and forth until the gloss appears. Repeat this performane until the entire front has been gene ever. The cellar and cuffs are treated in the same manner. Badly Sold. Yesterday afternoon Philip Lebzelter, Sam' I G. Gensemer, of this city, and Haifa dozen gentlemen living along the line of the Reading railroad, were rather badly sold. They were at the upper depot and bought their tickets for the 325 train north. Having five minutes te spare, they entered a car, took their seats, and calmly puffed away at their cigars. After waiting about a quarter of an hear and wondering why the train did net 'move, they made inquiries aud found out that they had entered a car en the siding and that the train was several miles out the read. Resignation Unconsidered. Rev. S. E. Herring, pastor of the Luth eran church in Wrightsville, who a few weeks age tendered bis resignation of the pastorate, and announced a congregational meeting te be held en Sunday last te take action en the same, has withdrawn the resignation and says that he will for the present continue his pastoral relations in that congregation. Considerable dissatis faction is manifested with the course of the reverend gentlemen, en the part of a portion of the- membership of the church. Frem an Old Kdlter. Clinten Democrat.
