HALF A MILLION LOST.
Desltiictive Conflagration
Hags.
In Wakcfleld,
Wakefield, March 12. About one
o'clock this morning fire broke out in what
is known as the new chair room of tbe
Wakcfieldrattan works, and seen spread
te the large four-story building used as a
basket and chair room which was quickly
destroyed. The flames then attacked
a large four story frame building, seventy
five feet wide and three hundred long, oc
cupied as a weaving room en the first fleer
and a chair room above. This building was
quickly in ruins. Help arrived has from
Stoneham and Reading, and strong efforts
are making te check the flames. It is im
possible te estimate the less, but it will
prebablyreach half a million dollars, per
haps mere, and it will threw nearly one
thousand empleyes out of work.
