But ter sold from 25 te 30 cents per pound ; eggs from 12 te 13 cents, the hens have awakened te the situation ; fish, 10 te 12$ cents per pound ; beef and veal steak, 12 te 14 cents iter peutid ; pudding and sausage, 8 te 10 cents per pound ; chickens alive per pair, 50 te 75 cents ; celery per bunch. 10 cents. On Friday evening, March 11th, Gen. Welsh pest, G. A. 11., will present Jarrett fe Rice's musical extravaganza, " Fun ou the Bristel," in the Columbia opera house. Counting the military, Company II, would make the number of Columbians about seventy who were in the inaugural crewtl. Great Delivery of Tobacco. Te-day there was a very heavy delivery of tobacco at many of the city packing houses, the scene looking net unlike that of one of the "big days" last winter. Tobacco avenue aud vicinity was jammed from daybreak until neon with country wagons all piled up with tobacco. The Harrisburg pike, near the warehouses. North Duke, near the court house, North Prince, above Chestnut and some ether tobacco centres, were almost equally crowded. Anether Charge of Tlll-Tapptug. Rebert Gochenauer aud Frank Bender, the boys who were committed some days age by Alderman Spurrier te answer at court for tapping the till of Jehn F. Hcrr, at the Northern market, were again brought before the alderman te-day, te answer a similar complaint prelcrrcd azainst them by Reuben Bewman, whose till in the Central market was tapped en Saturday last. These who are interested in raiting bus iness are considerably exercised concern ing the report afloat, that the course is shut up at Turkey Hill by rocks that were shoved into it when the ice moved. It is an affair of great importance te the timber interest, net only te the buyers and sellers, but te these who handle the timber. Nothing very definite is yet known in our vicinity as te its truth aud doubts are en tertained, from the fact that similar re ports, proving false, have been gotten up by lower pilots, in order te intimidate raft owners and lead them te discriminate in their favor against Marietta pilots. But a test will be made by two pilots, Ike Hippie aud Fred. Waller. They have made up several rafts at Columbia and will run a light one dewu. The river is very high aud they will have the advan tage of plenty of water. Only a few persons went from our place te see the inauguration. Twe tickets were sold. We are pleased te sec the name of a young townsman, Jehn Turner, in the firm of Mackey, Jehnsen. Turner & Ce., who have opened a large ready-made clothing store at 922 Chestnut street, Philadel phia. Last evening about 7 o'clock as Henry Lcenatd, lamp-lighter, was walking near Duke and Vine streets, he slipped upon the icy pavement, aud falling heavily stunned himself se severely that he was for a time helpless. He was carried into the residence of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Harriet Leenard, where he received proper attention, and by 11 o'clock he was se far recovered that he could be removed te his home en East Fulton street.
