Science lias its geed points, bat when it
drops icte meddlesome ways concerning
human diet it might as well be informed
that its proper place is in a back seat.
After all the time that has been devoted
te the work of teaching the public what
should be eaten and what should net an
English authority new comes forward in
thn most frigid manner and asserts that
because some articles of feed eupply con
tain certain pleasing proportions of nutri
tive matter it is net te be supposed that
the digestive apparatus can seize upon it
and make the most of it. Evidently the
time has come in which men who propose
te live by eating might as well begin at
once and set all physicians at defiance. In
spite of following physicians' instructions
Oi man who had any money te spend ever
stai ved te deith. There is nutriment even
in sawdust pudding, aud the citizen who
feels a sense of responsibility te his iuner
man cannot de better thau go en eating
just as he has done, if at the same time he
devotes the proper attention te ablutions
and exercise. The principal trouble at the
present time with men who have well sup
plied tables is net se much with what is
set before them te eat as with the proper
disposal of such portions of the table sup
plies as may be indigestible, and therefore
need te be disposed of speedily and prop
