Bepert of County Institute.
The proceedings of the late sessions of
the County Institute have just lwcn issued
in pamphlet form. This is t!ic thirtccntli
of these animal reports and comprises,
with the report proper, its valuable juges
of educational statistics, a s-ci ics of inter
esting pages in astronomical subiccts, and
some adrcrtisins matter, ev one htui-
dred pages of the size of tlie ntylctmn
SehoelJournal. Sevcnteeii hi red copies
were issued, some sixteen dtnlre-1 of
which were mailed out yesterday te
teachers, directerr. and hupcrinlcndents.
The bill for postage alone, we learn, was
nearly fifty dollars. Twe copies were sent
te each teacher enrolled, one te each of
the three hundred and tifty or mere school
directors in the county, and one te paeh
city, county andhoieugh superintendent
in the state.

Tlie True Cress.
Mr. James Stcwait has left with us a
(section of weed, about an inch and a half
in diameter and an eighth of an inch
thick, sawed from a tree that grows en the
Madeira river and in ether paits
of Seuth Ameiica and is known
as the Vera Cruz, or Tiue Ciess.
"When sawed in vertical sections, the
weed presents the exact appearance of a
Maltccse cress, the interstices between the
arms of the cress being filled with a film:
of different color and quality fiem that of
the cress. The branch from which the
specimen was sawn was net cylindrical in
form, but nearly quadrilateral.

and wife, of I'eim township, were visiting
at the house of Ucv. IJ. Z. Eby, in Man
lieim borough, with the intention of at
tending service. On leaving Mr. Eby's.

ucr slipped en the ice and fell with such
violence as te produce complete disloca
tion of both fore-arms at the wrist joint ;
also fracturing the bone in her left Inte
arm a few inches above said joint, beside
