as an irresistible temptation te a fair young

several of the company, were standing in
front of the Tecumseh hotel at Xionden,
Canada, a few days age talking ever mat

close te the party and steed as if eaves
dropping. Mr. Adams thinking it would
be a geed joke, as the7 were listening
where they had no business, commenced
te tell of a mmucr and hew several men
were all cut te pieces. He carried en the
conversation for about ten minutes, when,
becoming angry, he ordered the men away.
One of them then stepped up te him aud,
producing a piece ei paper and pcncQ.
wrote the words, " Yvrc are both deaf an.i
dumb, can't you de something for us.""
This was tee much; the whole party
broke into a laugh, and Geerge .acknowl
edging that the joke was upon him, "set
