The Odds Offered en Hancock. Tlte Kind of Opinions that Men are Willing te Hack With Their Meney. New Yerk Sun. As far as betting may be regarded as an indication of the direction of public feel ing relative te the presidential contest, the prospects arc favorable te the election of Hancock aud English. A well-known citizen who has opportunities for knowing what is going en among sporting men said yesterday that lets arc freely made of $1,000 te $SO0 that Hancock and English will be elected. There are many bets of $1,000 te 8750 that the Democrats will carry Indiana. KCel. James Moency, of the Twenty fourth ward, has bet $1,000 even, and also $300 te $400 that Gen. Hancock will be electcd. Cel. Mooney has also bet $300 eveu that the Democrats will carry Indiana. He has also bet $70 te $100 twice that Gen. Hancock will carry Ohie. Ed. Gilmerc, of Nible's theatre, has bet about $10,000 that Gen. Garfield will be elected. This bet was made several weeks age. Fer the last two weeks 3Ir. Gilmere has been trying in vain te hedge. S. Fester Dewey bet $10,000 even that Garfield will be elected president. He new wants te hedge but he cannot find a vic tim. Ed. Kearney has bet ever $20,000 even 011 Gen. Hancock, and he is willing te bet any amount from $30,000 te $100,000 even in the same way. He finds it impossible te obtain takers. Themas Jehnsen, the peel seller, stands ready te bet $1,000 te $800 that General Hancock will be elected. Cel. Jee Crocheron of the Brewer house wants te bet $1,000, or any part of it, even, that Gen. Hancock will be elected presi dent. Charles "W. Giisweld, formerly of Fifth Avenue hotel., bet about $3,000, several weeks age, en Gen. Garfield. When sev eral parties offered te accept further simi liar bets from him, he said he would bet $1,000 te $3,000 that Gen. Garfield would be elected. Sel. Saylcs has bet a large amount 011 Gen. Hancock, and he wants te get some mere bets of the same kind. He can be found at the Aster house.' Edward Toehill, of Brooklyn, formerly a licpublcan harbor master, has come out boldly for Hancock. He stands ready te bet $1,000 te $730 that the Democrats will carry Indiana, and sl.OOO te $730 that Hancock's popular vote in the United States will be greater by 130,000 than Mr. Tilden's was. In Levell's peel room the betting stands $1,000 te $030 in favor of Hancock. A betting man took $3,000 te Pittsburgh lately, expecting te invest it te advantage in ihat stronuheld of the Camcreus. lie could net sret bets. He savs there has been a revolution in that part of Pennsyl vania. The Republicans are disheartened. The cry there is that Hancock saved the state, at Gettysburg, from being overrun by Gen. Lee's army, and that the pres idency is Ins by right, renusylvania, tins gentleman predicts, will roll up a majority for Hancock. Over the 11 1 lis te tlie Hene Yard. Yeu are thinking of your clothing for fall ; what it shall be ; hew and where yen shall get it. Come and See Us. Come and sec us, or drop us a Hue, saying what you want, as near as you can. If you are here, yeu'ean see for yourself a great variety of things, try en what you like, and go home with tliu old clothes in a bundle. That is very easy : and uethiug can be mere satisfactory. Net a Strange Place. It isn't as if you were going te a .strange place. The chances are you've been here before, aud knew something of our waj's. Perhaps your neighbor has been here ; and has told yen it was a geed place te go te. Perhaps you've only read that we sell a geed many clothes, and say te people who buy them: Bring them back if you 1 don't find them every way te your liking. New this is really why wc are net strangers te anybody; because we deal with everybody as with a neigh bor; and expect him te come right back if he has cause of complaint. If you Don't Come. But, suppose you don't come. Hew are we going te sell you just what you want te buy, without your seeing things beforehand ? Try ; write ; say about hew much you want te pay for a business suit, dress suit, overcoat, or whatever you want ; say what your occupation is ; say anything that has any bearing en what we eugh te send you. It will net take us two minutes te guess what you want ; if we don't guess right, that's our less, net yours. Have Your Own Way ! Perhaps you want your clothing made te your measure. Did you sus pect that wc make te measure a half million dollars' worth of clothing every year for pcople we never saw and never expect te see ? Yeu may be very certain that we have a way of do ing such work withent much risk of a misfit ; for a misfit, you knew, comes right back te us. Wc are pretty care ful about making blunders when we've get them all te make geed.
