Gather Ute Utrw.
Ferest leaves are excellent te supply the
stable yards, and where straw is scarce
also the cow stables and hog pens. They
can be most conveniently gathered just
after falling, when there is some weight in
them, or after the first snow and. before
the wintry blasts have scattered them.
They then lay compactly and being moist
or heavy can be handled with greater fa
cility. A cart with a few standards stack
in the sides will held a considerable quan
tity ; and the best thing te gather them or
lead them with is a wooden hand-rain-.
wooden lour-tined straw fork is also very
bandy when the leaves are moist. Leaves
absorb large quantities of the liquid man
ure and are an excellent fertilizer in the
spring. They cau be gathered tee when
ether labor about the farm is slack.
The Crep and Coratedder.
It is net within remembrance that we
have seen a heavier and better crop of corn
fodder than that of the present year, se far
as this section is concerned. It is clean
and bright, never having been touched
with a heavy rain-storm, by which it is
sometimes thrown down and dirtied. It
is also mere carefully put in shucks than
was formerly the case ; and new if the crop
is husked and secured before it shall be
come meulded by being tee long kept
closely bound and excluded from the air,
" will be a supply of cornfeddcr
'uautity and quality, the far
l. i- "' Fr cattle it is cx-

leaves tee torunving-nerscs are excellent.
In putting in stacks, cither in the field or
near the barn, after being husked, it is net
necessary that it should be under cover,
provided it is packed with the buts in the
centre, and thus built up and given a slight
descent te the outside of the stack te carry
off the rain.
Reuniting Suiall Stones.
We have new before us a short aud
sharp paragraph en the necessity and se
curity of removing from the highways the
loose small stones which are se frequently
allowed by read-repairers te remain scat
tered about en the read-bed. The article
referred te says : "A single stone, which
might be thrown out in two seconds, is
sometimes struck by wagon wheels fifty
times a-day, or mere than 10,003 times a
year. Ten thousand blows of a sledge
hammer as hard en one wagen would prob
ably demolish it entirely, aud the stone
docs no less harm because it divides its
blows among a hundred vehicles. There
is,
therefore, probably no investment that
would pay a higher rate of profit than a
few dollars' worth of work in clearing pub
lic highways of loose aud fixed stones."
In connection with this subject wc may
mention that in passing ever the turnpike
running from the Fexctaase village, in the
Twenty-third ward, te Huntingdon valley,
a couple of years age, we noticed a laborer
gathering up the loose stones, using a
heavy iron rake for the purpose, and after
raking them into little heaps, shoveling
them into a wheelbarrow whence they
were hauled te one side and piled up te be
used when there was occasion for it. Wc
stepped at the next "gate" and inquired if
this was the usual practice of the compa
ny, and were answered that it was. We
then said that no one would complain of
paying his tell where .such care was taken
te protect vehicles and horses from dam dam
age ; and besides, wc marked, that this
is the best kept turnpi c wc ever passed
ever in Pennsylvania.
Feels Yeung Again.
" My mother was afflicted a long time witli
Neuralgia and a dull, heavy inactive condition
of the whole system; headache, nervous pros
tration, ami was almost helpless. Ne Physi
cians or medicines did her anv geed. Three
months age she began te use Hep Bitters, with
such geed effect that she seems and feels
young again, although ever 70 years old. We
think there is no ether medicine lit te use in
the family." A lady, in Providence, R. I.

en Fall Clethes.
Yeu are thinking of your clothing
for fall ; wlnit it shall be ; hew and
where you shall get it.
Come and See Uh.
Come and see us, or drop us a line,
saying what you want, as near as you
can. If you are here, you can see for
yourself a great variety of things, try
en what you like, and go home with
the old clothes in a bundle. That is
very easy J and nothing can be mere
satisfactory.-
Net a. Strange Place.
It isn't as if ou were ginS t0 a
strange place. The chances are you've
been here before, ana new something
of our ways. Perhaps veur neighbor
has been here ; aiid has told you it
wasacoed place te go te. Perhaps
you've only read that V a gd
many clothes, and say te xeple who
buy them: Bring them bai 7
don't find them every, way te four
liking.
New this is really why we are no
strangers te anybody; because we
deal with everybody as with a neigh
bor ; and expect him te come right
back if he has cause of complaint.
If you Don't Come.
But, suppose you don't come. Hew
are we going te sell you jnstlriiat you
want te buy, without your seeing
things beforehand ? Try ; write : say
about hew much you want te pay for t
business suit, dress suit, overcoat, or
whatever you want ; say what your
occupation is ; say anything that has
any bearing en what we eugh te send
you. It will net take us two minutes
te guess what you want ; if we don't
cuess right, that's our less, net yours.
Have Your Own Wat !
Perhaps you want your clthing
made te your measure. Did you sus
pect that we make te measure a half
million dollars' worth of clothing
every year for people we never saw
and never expect te see ? Yeu may be
very certain that we have a way of do
ing such work withent much risk of a
misfit ; for a misfit, you knew, comes
right back te us. We are pretty care
ful about making blunders when
we've get them all te make geed.
Our Wat :
Our way of doing business is te
make the buyer welcome, at the out
set, te all the advantage and all the
guarantee he can ask for.
