Snrsk Thieves About Valuables Stelen.
Yesterday we leperted the particulars of
the rebbeiy at SehecnbergciVs hotel which
took place the evening previous. Te-day
we have te record a still mere extensive
rebbeiy perpetrated at the residence of C.
Widmyer, corner Seuth Duke and East
King streets. Between 3 and e o'clock
yesterday afternoon a thief or thieves en
tered the residence by the front deer en
Duke street, and ascending te the third
story ransacked drawcis and boxes ami
stele the following described articles :
One geld watch and a geld charm, en
ameled iu black, representing a satchel ;
two geld watch chains, with black guard
and locket attached; a small mahogany
box containing the following among ether
articles three finger rings, one of them
an amethyst and one with the name if
"Dan" en top and inside the words
"Clara from Geerge:" a garnet ring set
with three garnets; small child's ling witli
" Harry " engraved upon it ; child's geld i
armlets ; large geld meaaiiienwiin minia
tures of Mr. and Mrs. Widmyer.
and marked " C. II. W.;" four pairs of
ear-rings, one of which was coral, another
cameo, another mosaic, aud the ether geld
balls, and ene odd ear-ring ; a set of geld
spiral-wire shirt studs; a gentleman's geld i
scai f slide: a pair of broken hand brTice- j
lets: two pairs of geld sleeve buttons, ene
pair being solid and of oval pattern ; a
child's whistle with pearl mouth-piece and
silver bells ; a package of letters, an old
purse and two old diaries ; two geld chain
pins, one of which was enameled
with black. The following articles
net iu the mahogany box, but
lying in various parts of the looms were
also stolen from the third story. Twe pairs
of black car-rings, one pair of black sleeve
buttons, morocco card cases, ene morocco
pocket book, containing a two dollar note!
and three silver dollars, a bead purse con
taining small change, two needle book?,
a coral breastpin, round in shape, with
pendants, a long silver pin with lau en top,
a small box containing charms, among
which was a pearl beet with geld buttons
aud skates, a fifty cent and twenty-five
cent California geld coin, a plain geld ring,
shell comb with gilt top, some broken
pieces of jewelry, let of neckties, handker
chiefs, gloves, bows for the head, a small
purse containing a $5 bill and a half-cent
piece.
Frem the third story the thief appears
te have descended te the second story,
from one of the back rooms of which was
stolen half a dozen solid silver table spoons,
half a dozen solid silver teaspoons, a pair
of silver butter knives, a pair of silver salt
spoons, a silver mustard spoon, and per
haps few ether articles.
The value of the property stolen cau
scarcely be estimated, as many of the
articles were presents and keepsakes and
were held far above their commercial
value. They were worth perhaps $300 or
$400, and could net be replaced for a
much larger sum.
The identity of the thief or thieves has
net yet been fixed. A woman of medium
bizc, dressed in dark clothes and wearing a
black bonnet, 'was seen by Mis. Edw. H.
Brown (a daughter of Mr. Widmyer. who
lives en the opposite side of the street)
te enter the premises a short time
before the robbery, but nothing was
thought of it at the time, as visitors fre
quently call there during the day. The
case has has been placed in the hands of
Capt. Sprechcr for investigation.

Seme time during the forenoon of yes
terday a sneak thief entered the bearding
house of Mrs. Maggie Eckert at Ne. 42 J
West King street. He, she or they steli
a red coverlet en a table which steed in
the hall way and belonged te Mrs. Eckert.
They then ascended te the sscend fleer of
the house where they entered the room of
Mrs. Henry Farnum, a boarder of the
heuse. Miss Minnie Kreybill, of Loavcn Leavcn Loavcn
werth,Kansas,has been stepping with Mrs.
Farnum for some days past, and the
ladies occupy the same room. The thieves
opened Miss Krcy bill's tvunlc and, tool? two
silk dresses and a cashmere dress, and
they took twelve neck-ties' and a geld
locket, belonging te Sirs. Farnum, from
the bureau. It is supposed that the rob
bery occurred between 10 and 11 o'clock in
the forenoon, as at that time the ladies
were up town and no one was in their
room. The thief probably entered the
front deer, and-from the manner in which
the theft was made, the thief is believed
te have been a woman.
