Annual Inhibition of the Agricultural and
Horticultural Society.
The annual exhibition of the Lancaster
agricultural and horticultural society
commenced iu the Farmers' Northern mar
ket house this afternoon.
AH morning the officers of the society
were busily engaged in recciviug entries
and assigning space te the exhibitors, and
the exhibitors were busy arranging their
several exhibits. At neon, tli3 time an
nounced for epeniug the fair, the market
house was far from being filled, and the
exhibits then there were net all arranged
in their proper positions. There are,
however, a great many entries of a very
attractive character, especially iu the fruit
department, the specimens being of apples,
pears, grapes, &c, being of very superior
quality. The same may be said of the
flowers, vegetables and cereals, while the
household department, including domestic
products and manufacturers, embroidery
and fancy articles, is fairly represented.
The exhibits in ether departments were
net sufficiently well arranged at neon
te enable us te form an opinion as te
the merit of the display. Doubtless by
evening all the departments will have been
filled up, and the exhibition will be well
worthy the patronage of our citizens. The
exhibition will remain open until Friday
evening. Tickets of admission can be had
at the deer.
We will, te-morrow, endeavor te publish
a full list of the entries, and have some
thing te say about the mere important or
attractive articles exhibited.
