WEDNESDAY EVENINO, SEPT. 1, 1880.
Tkej'd D Their Best.
Detroit Free Press.
A party of Detreitcrs who were Ashing
for brook trout en tiuvBeyec river, and
camping en its banks, 'ran out of supplies,
and an envoy was sent out te beg, buy or
borrow something until an order sent te
Traverse City could be filled. After a
walk'ef two mltes he reached a leg house
in the weeds. A woman, five children,
thrce dogs, and a family of tame coons
occupied the one Bingle room in the house.
The furniture was all home-made, the
tableware consisted entirely of tin dishes,
and only oue bed was visible. The envoy
stated his errand, and the woman replied :
" Fleur ! I reckon we ran out e 'flour
yesterday, and we won't have any mere
till next week."
" Can you spare any coffee ?"
"I guess net. The last coffce we had
ran out en Christmas. If we git any next
week I'll spare some."
"Hew about tea?"
" Well, tea has been purty skccrcc with
us for the last two months, but Ben said
he thought of gittin' some 'long this fall.
If you are around here when our tea comes
we'll divide with you."
"Yeu haven't any potatoes te spare, have
yen?"
"Well, new, you ought te have been
here last week fer'tatcrs. I cooked the
last Sunday. These 'ere dogs and children
set a heap by cold 'tatcrs, and they go oft"
likohet cakes. Ben is going te git seme
mere 'long about Saturday."
" Haven't you any previsions at all which
you cau spare?" asked the discouraged en
voy. Well, new, I don't bclicve we have, but
wc arc gein' te stock up 'long in the fall.
I was telling Ben only last night that I'd
get kinder tired of scroeclriu' along en In
jun and lasses."
" I'll buy some of that if you can spare
it, for wc have't a bite of anything in
camp."
"Ne, I can't sell any. Fact is, wc had
the last for breakfast, and Ben won't get
any mere till Saturday night."
" I'm seivy," sighed the man as he turn
ed away.
" Yes, se'm I," she sighed in return.
" I seed your party down dar in camp
t'ether day, ami you leek like honest
folks. I'd be glad te spare you semethin'
but I can't. If you men want te meve
your camp up here, and enjoy our seei cty,
and use our smudge te drive away skecters
we'll de our best te make it pleasant ; but
when you come down te fodder wc ain't
newhar' I was telling Ben only last night
that we'd be lucky if we get these dogs
and coons through another winter !"

IIew Happiness Is Secured.
Happiness is the absence of pain or annoy
ance, and wherever there is pain there is dis
ease. A pain in the lower portion of the body
imUealesadisordcretsoinekind. If there is any
e ler or color or deposit in the urine it means
disease and requires attention at once. We
have heard manyet ourfriendsspcakef the re

Sold by our enterprising young friend, II E
SLAYMAKER. This Brandy has steed the
test for years, and has never fulled, as fur
as our experience extends, anil we therefore
give it the preference ever all ether Brandies,
no matter with hew many jaw-breaking French
titles they are branded. One-fourth of the
money that is yearly thrown awny en various
impotent dyspepsia specifics would sutlicc te
buy all the Brandy te cure any such case or
cases. In proof of the curative powers et
Reigart's Old Brandy,
In cases et Dyspepsia, we can summon nam

and as a beverage he used 31 cG rami's Reet
Beer. Ilu is a Methodist, and then, as new,
preached at times, and in his discourses often
declaimed earnestly against all kinds of strong
drink. When advised te try
Reigart's Old Brandy,
In Ids cese, he looked up with astonishment,
but after hearing et its wonderful effects in
the cases of some of his near acquaintances, he
at last consented te fellow our advice. He
used the Brandy faithfully and steadily; the
lirst bottle giving him an appetite, and before
the second was taken he was u sound nian, with
a stomach capable of digesting anything which
liejehese te eat. He still keeps it and uses a lit
