THURSDAY EVENING, AUG. 10, 1880. The Apple-Crejt TkI9 Tear. Gcnnantewn Telegraph. Tbe statements we have from almost ever tbe entire apple-growing regions of the country are favorable for tbe best apple-crop in many years. Of coarse there are regions where it will be short, and some where the fruit has suffered from the effects of insects ; but in general the trees are net only well-laden with fruit, but it is of large size and with mere than the usual freedom from tbe attacks of their common enemies. Tn the counties around Philadel phia, while we have known tbe crop te be as abundant, we de net remember the speci mens te be larger or mere perfect. We .saw the ether day a fine, symmetrical tree leaded with that most beautiful apple and the very best cf the whole catalogue the "American Summer Pearmain." It was quite beyond our knowledge that the varie ty would "de" here in Pennsylvania. Pomelogists told us it would net. But here it was, larger and mere perfect and of higher quality than we have even seen or eaten of in Delaware or elsewhere. Here, tee, ia Pennsylvania, before the middle of August, it was perfectly ripe, and would be preferred te almost any apple that grows. At least we would prefer it. Seme thirty years age, being at St. Geerges, Delaware, en a fishing excursion, wc came acressthis apple for the first time and made arrangements the following spring te be furnished with a number of grafts. These we set en a dwarf apple trcc, and the following year we distributed grafts among fiiends in Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks and Chester counties. It may be that the tree above referred te came from our own stock ; and if it should be, it is the only one of which we receive any information. If there are any ethers wc should like te hear of them. "Victory In The Air." ISut Victory At Ute Polls I Wanted. Bcllctonte Watchman. Fellow Democrats, de net depend en airy things. Kely only upon geed, honest work, and 0:1 getting out the full Democratic vote. And inake as many converts from the opposition as possible Our nominee for tbe presidency is a splen did man, n wise statesman and a mighty soldier, but even a man like this can only be elected by constant work and steady, well-directed effort. Quit talking, then, about "victory in the air.' If it teally is "in tbe air" and you "feel it in your bones," and all that, se much the better, but don't depend en that. Don't let such feelings lessen your vigi lance and efforts one particle. The Republicans are wide awake and are working hard. They don't feel that there is " victory in the air " for them, and se they work se much the harder. That is just what tbe Democrats want te de, if tlicy desire te have victory at the polls ! We can elect Hancock and English if wc will, but wc must work for it. We can't de it by dreaming and sentimentalizing about " victory in tbe air." Wake up, Democrats ! Ge te weik. Be vigilant, be active and sec that every man docs his duty. Hew Happiness Is Secured. Happiness is thcabsencp of pain or annoy ance, and w herc.vcr there is pain there is dis ease. A pain in the lower portion of the body indicatcsadisorderel some kind. If therelsanj' odor or color or deposit in the liriue it means disease and requires attention at once. We have' heard inimyet ourfriemKspcukef the rc 111:11 kable power of Warner's Sale Kidney and l.i er Cine and are convinced there is nothing se certain and valuable ler all disorders et the miliary system both initie and lemale. C MEDICAL. Brandy as a Medicine. The following article was voluntarily sent te Mr. II. E. Haymaker, Agent for RcigartV Old Wine Stere, by a prominent practicing physi cian et this county, who bus extensively used the Brandy teferred te in his regular practice. II is commended te the attention of these af llictcd with Indigestion and Dyspepsia. BRANDY AS A MEDICINE. This new much abused Alcoholic Stimulant v:ls never intended as a beverage, but te be 11 t,ed as a medicine of great potency m the cure et some of the destructive diseases which sweep away their annual thousandsef victims. Willi a purely philanthropic motive we pre sent te the I.tverablc notice et invalids espe cially these alllictcd with that miserable dis eaxe Dspep-ila, a (.pecific remedy, which is nothing mete or less than Brandy. The aged, with treble appetite and mere or less debility, will lind this simple medicine, When used prepcily, A Sovereign Remedy or all their Ills and aches, Be It, however si net I j' understood that we prescribe and use but one ai tide, ami that Is REKJARTS OLD BRANDY, Sold by our enterprising young friend, II E SLAYMAKER. This Brandy has btoed the te.sl ler years, and has never failed, as tar as our experience extends, and w e therefore give it the preference ever all ether Brandies, no matter with hew manyjaw-brtaklng French titles they are branded. One-fourth of the money Unit is yearly thrown away en various impotent dyspepsia speclllcs would sullicc te buy all the Urandy te cure any such case or cases. In proof of the curative powers et Reigart's Old Brandy, In cases et Dyspepsia, we can summon num liers or witnesses one case in particular we "cite: A hard-working larmcr hart been aillictcd with an exhaust i e Dyspepsia ter 11 number of years; his stomach would reject almost every kind of feed; be hart sour eructatiens con stantly 110 appetite in fact, he was obliged te restrict Ins diet te crackers ami stale bread, and us a beverage he used McGrann's Heet Beer. lie is a Methodist, and then, as new, preached at times, and in his discourses often declaimed earnestly against all kinds of strong dtink. When advised te try Reigart's Old Brandy, In his case, lie looked up with astonishment; but after hearing et its wonderful effects in the cases of some of bis near acquaintances, be at last consented te fellow our advice, lie used the Urandy faithfully and steadily; the first bottle giving him an appetite, and before the second was taken be was a sound man, with a stomach capable of digesting anything w Inch he chose te cat. lie still keeps it and uses a lit tle occasionally; and since lie lias tills medi cine be bus been of very little pecuniary bene fit te the doctor.
