MONDAY EVENING, JULY 26, 1880..' MBDICAZ.. Colerado Correspondence flew Kokomo Kept the Fourth. Kokomo, Sammit Ce., Cel., July 6, 1880. $ The fifth of July dawned bright and beautiful iu Kokomo. The mountain sun rose in golden splendor and kissed the lnftv nines whose heads were lifted up in majestic silence as if in worship te the perfect blue and cloudless sky that arched in beauty ever the vale of Ten Miles. Tiie lustrous rays of old Sel lent their gladdening warmth and the moun tain songsters poured fourth their matin lays te usher in the glorious natal day of American indcDcndencc. All was bustle and confusion in Ko komo. And why, ? Was net "the day wc celebrate " te be properly observed in a town and by whose people the glorious freedom of our native land is se thoreugly exemplified? Ceitcs. A 4th of July picnic and some spread-eagle ora tions and fireworks was the pregramme. Eaily in the morning all the available vehicles and horses in the city were brought into service te convey the jelly nartv se anxious te no, down te the Hen. As we de net like te carry ever any Sum mer Stock, our uniform policy Is toward the close of each season te reduce prices te figures which will compel sales. Call and examine the bargains we are offer ing, leek at the qualities of our goods, com pare our prices with ttoese charged elsewhere, and you will see that everyone of ear asser tions has a solid basis of fact. Ladles from the surrounding cities are es pecially Invited te pay us a visit, the oppor tunity new offered te secure beautiful and novel goods at fabulously low prices may never eccnr again. We are closing out our stock of LACES, consisting of - Jehn S. Wheeler's, who with his amia ble spouse had kindly invited many of the geed citizens of Kokomo te come te his elegant ranche te spend the " fourth." Few parties ever staitcd out in greater glee and fewer have ever returned better satisfied with their day's sport. Starting in the bright morning sun in the cele brated " lumber carts,' our route lay ever the (Georgetown and kokemo stage read, which following as it docs the beautiful Ten Mile creek, and the valley through which it passes, en the edge of the moun tains which enclose it, we were favored by views of some of the grandest scenery in Colerado. After a journey of about seven miles, which seemed eYnamest tee quickly made, weai rived at the beautiful home of our host and hostess. The residence of Judge Wheeler is characterized by mere modern improvements and eastern style of architec ture than the majority of Colerado dwell ings. Situated at the feet of Wheeler mountain, at the junction of the Ten Mile and West Ten Mile creeks, no residence hitc is surrounded by mere natural and beautiful scenery than this. Extending cist of the dwelling is the ranche, a mag nificent stretch of level pasturage and grazing ground, embracing the vast valley formed by the creeks above referred te and enclosed by t we mountain ranges, branches of the main range. Back of the heuse standi a beautiful forest of towering pines. Te this lovely spot we were asked te ciniie te spend the "glorious Fourth." Wc went. Words new fail me te express the thoroughness of our enjoyment through out the whole day and evening. Dancing a- of course the main amusement. Many of our party though went trout fishing, in which Jinny beauties these mountain streams abound. The most of them were successful, and "mountain trout" was one of the most important and delicate dishes with which wc wcie favored. Caught within a few reds of the deer and put right into the pan they were beyond comparison the most excellent dish of fish it was ever my pleasui e of which te partake. Susque hanna black bass net excepted. After a ramble through the forest and along the creek dinner was announced and though I did full justice te it then I can not new in a description. The fes tive beard fairly groaned beneath its weight of" geed things."' Net least among the palatable viands being the "mountain trout." The afternoon and evening were spent in dancing and various ether amuse ments until by the lateness of the hour, we were warned of the rapid approach of "quitting time."" Aj we could net travel by night ever the mountains, wc accepted the further hospitality of our kind entertainers and remained with them ever night. On the morning of the sixth wc returned te the classic vales of Kokomo well pleased and satisfied with our trips and its fulsome pleasure. Fred.
