Buffalo Bill is rusticating at Atlantic
City.
Harriganand Hart have closed their
traveling season.
The company of the Berger Family will
consist of twenty-three people next season.
Mr. Yecker, of Fulton opera house, will
return from Europe some t'me in Aug
ust. Cooper & Bailey's circus will be here
for certain during the latter part of Aug
ust or early in September.
Little Rosebud is traveling through In
diana with a company which is known as
the "Little Rosebud Combination."
Teny Paster attended the convention in
Cincinnati last week with his friend. He
was playing in the city at the time.
Hen. W. H. English, the Democratic
candidate for vice president is building a
large opera house in Indianapolis.
Jacob Aberlc, a New Yerk variety man
ager will put a large minstrel troupe en
the read the coming season.
D. B. Hedges, advance agent of Hav
erly's minstrels, went te Europe a few
days age taking with him ever four tens
of pesters and lithographs.
Miss Annie Fex, the actress, who was
last seen here with the " Our Beys " com
pany, was married a few days age te a son
of the Democratic candidate for vice pres
ident. The one thousandth performance of
"Evangeline" was given at the Bosten
theatre en Wednesday evening for the ben
fit of E. E. Rice. About seventy persons
appeared in the cast.
Teny Denier closes his traveling season
of forty-six weeks at Aurera, 111., en Sat
urday night. He will have a strong com
pany next year and it will be headed by
Geerge II. Adams, the prince of clowns.
Alice Batcman, the clog dancer, who
was here with Watsen, Ellis & Kernells,
will hereafter dance with Willis Fickert,
formerly of Williams & Pickert. Miss
Batcman was formerly a paitncr of Billy
Neenan.
Chcevers and Kennedy the well town
clog dancers, who for several years were
members of Carncross & Dixey's min
strels, but who for some time past have
been in Australia, have separated after a
partnership of eighteen years.
Floyd Lawman, of Reading, who during
last season was in the employ of Jehn D.
Mishlcr as an advance agent, will go with
Nick Roberts te Australia next season.
He is an acrobat, and is new with Jehn
Robinson's show.
Jesephine Merlacchi, the ballet dancer,
was the wife of Texas Jack.Shc was in Lead
villc when he died, and is prostrated with
grief. She is an Italian by birth, and was
at one time one of the best dancers in the
country. She appeared here with her
husband when he last played here.
Havcrly's colored minstrels began an
engagement at Nible's garden, New Yerk,
en Monday night. The troupe consists of
one hundred people, including twenty end
men, four jawbone end men, three middle
men, forty fema'e jubilee siugers, two corps
of shouters, a large orchestra and a brass
band of seventeen pieces. Billy Kcrsands
and Jim Bland arc the leading comedians.
In the ring of Cooper & Bailey's show
at Haverhill, Mass., a few days age, Wm.
II. Batcheller turned a double somersault
ever eleven elephants. The animals were
placed side by side, save the last two in
the line, which were head te head. The
third elephant, the largest of the herd,
was elevated en two four-feet pedestals.
All of the company was assembled in the
ring te witness the feat. At a given signal
Mr. Batcheller ran down an incMned place,
struck the battoutc-beard, and after
making two complete revolutions in the
air, cleared the eleven elephants and
alighted squarely upon his feet.
