SATURDAY EVENING, JUNE 19, 1880.
Dressy Toilettes.
The fancy for black and white mixtures,
and the revival of laces, have brought a
return te the rich toilettes of white silk
trimmed -with black lace flounces. These
are especially handsome when illuminated
very slightly with the brilliant Prince of
Wales red satin. A beautiful dress of
white silk has the skirt nearly cov
ered with three deep flounces of black
thread lace, which has the figures mere
plainly developed by being laid uponpleat upenpleat
ings of sheer white silk-muslin. A black
lace cape is draped at the top of the
flounces te form a short apron. The square
necked basque is of white silk, smoothly
covered with black Lice, and the sleeves of
the lace arc left without lining. Large
bows of dark red satin arc en the sides of
the skirt, the corsage and sleeves.
Anether full dress toilette for summer is
made of Surah silk in the fashionable lav
ender shade, trimmed with white em
broidered silk, lace and pleating of the
Surah. The train of the Surah is plain,
long and flowing. Acress the front and
side breadths at the feet are alternate
rows of the white needle-worked silk slight
ly gathered and pleated mauve Surah.
Above this is a short wrinkled apron
of brocaded satin in lavender and mauve
shades, and this brocade forms the trim
ming en the Surah basque. A youthful
dress is of pale blue foulard with cieam
and olive green figures. This is made like
the lavender dress just described, but the
pleatings across the front tire of olive
green plain Surah, alternating with light
blue pleatings, ever which arc laid ritilles
of ecru embroidered muslin.
