LANCASTER DAILY INTELLIGENCER. MONDAY JUNE 14, 1&80. V Lancaster fntellifiencer. MONDAY EVENING, JUNE 14, 1880. New Yerk Tobacco Market. U. 8. Tobacco Journal. Brokers transacted an enormous quanti ty of business with their tongues this week. Their qualifications for magnify ing transactions are likely te become pro pre Terbial. Sifted down te reality, the trans actions sum up mere heavily this week than in any of the weeks during the past few mouths. The centre of attraction, both for buyers and sellers, is the '79 Penn sylvania. Timidity te buy in any large quantities characterizes the prospective buyers, and a haughty, self-relyinc air the would-be sellers. An almost impenetrable secrecy as te prices is preserved by all. Conjectures of all sorts are indulged in whenever a sale is announced. Seme held that the '79 Pennsylvania which has left the packers' hands, whatever the amount, was taken at no profit te them, for the rea son that they fear a stampede of the army of packers after the tobacco has gene through the sweat. Others again declare the prices which liave been paid te run up as high as 23c. for choice stock. A packing of 300 cases of '79 Housatonic ( Conn. ) is reported sold. The price is said te be 22c. Our packers in this country will de well in giving the quotations of prices for new to bacco the benefit of the doubt. They will also de well by selling whenever they see a reasonable chance. In old tobaccos transactions continue brisk and prices are a trifle better. Expert remains quiet and the growing crop is reported as doing splendidly in all sections of the country. We sum up the week's sales as fol fel lows : Pennsylvania Crep '79: 800 cases. Sellers asked as high as 25 cents. Ciep '78: 500 cases; fillers, 12 cents; running, 20 te 21 cents ; wrappers, 40 te 45 cents. Connecticut Crep '79 : 300 cases sec onds and fillers, p. t. Crep '78 ; 125 cases wrappers, 28 te 40 cents. Ohie Crep '78 : 253 cases running, fine, 10J cents. Havana Market very active. Sales 1,200 bales. Prices firm. Gani's Repert. Sales of seed leaf tobacco reported by J. S. Gans's Sen & Ce., tobacco brokers, Nes. 84 and 80 Wall street, New Yerk, for the week ending June 14 : 500 cases '79 Pennsylvania, asserted lets, 1321 ; 150 cases '78 Pennsylvania, 10(a) 28 ; 900 cases '79 Wisconsin, Havana seed 1418; 800 '79 New England, seconds ana fillers, p. t.; 158 cases '68 New Eng land, wrappers, 1325 ; 38 cases '78 Ohie, p. t. Total number of cases, 2,546. Breiu the Hub. There is perhaps no tonic offered te the peo ple thiit possesses us much real intrinsic value us the Hep Kilters.
