LANCASTER DAlLtlNTELLIGBNCBR.TUESDAY TONE 8, 1880:
Lancaster intelligencer.
TUESDAY EVENING, JTJNE 8, 1880.
The Lecal Tobacco Interest.
The local tobacco trade has been very
quiet during the week, and the only sales
we have heard of as being positively made
were 100 cases of 1878, and 160 cases of
1879, at private prices. There arc rumors
of ether and larger sales of i879, one en
tire packing of which is said te have been
taken by a New Yerk house at 12 cents
through.
But if dealers have been inactive during
the past week, the growers have net.
They have been as busy as bees in their
tobacco fields, and it is estimated that at
least one-half and perhaps three-fourths of
the crop of 1880 has been set out, and
mere would have been could geed plants
have been obtained. Planters have gene
eight or ten miles, and in some cases fur
ther te tret nlants. and in net a few in
stances thieves have invaded the plant
beds and stripped them se completely as te
compel the grower te become a purchaser.
Frem present appearances the acreage of
tobacco in this county will net be much if
any larger this season than last. As a rule
the old growers arc putting inabeut as much
at they did last year. The late " boom "
in almost all branches of business has given
permanent employment te hundreds
of mechanics and laborers who
were last year driven into plant
ing tobacco "en the shares" te gain
a livelihood. Many of these will plant
none this season, but doubtless enough
new growers will appear te swell the total
acreage in the county te its last year's
proportions, while the acieagc in the ad
joining counties will be very considerably
increased. On the whole, with geed
weather and no new unforeseen misfor
tunes by insects or storms, the crop of
1880 Pennsylvania will be larger than any
previously harvested.

BRANDY AS A MEDICINE.
This new much abused Alcoholic Stimulant
was never intended as a beverage, but te be
used as a medicine of great potency in the cure
ei sonic ei me iiesii iiciive diseases wiuuii
sweep away their annual thousands of victims.
With a purely philanthropic motive we pre
sent te the favorable notice et invalids espe
cially these alllicted with that miserable dis
ease Dyspepsia, a specific remedy, which is
nothing mere or less than
Brandy.
The aged, with feeble appetite and mere or
less debility, will lind this simple medicine,
when used properly,
A Sovereign Remedy
or all their ills and aches. He it, however
strictly understood that we. prescribe and list
but one article, and that is
KEIGART'S OLD BRANDY,
Sold by our enterprising young friend, H. K
SLAYMAKER. This Hrandy has steed the
test for years, and has never failed, as far
as our experience extends, and we therefore
give it the preference ever all ether Hrandics,
no matter with hew manyjaw-breaking French
titles they are branded. One-fourth of the
money that is yearly thrown away en various
impotent dy.-pepsia specifics would suffice te
buy all the Hrandy te cure any s uch cjise or
eases. In proof of the curative powers et
Reigart's Old Brandy,
In cases et Dyspepsia, we can summon mini
hers of witnesses one case in particular we
cite:
A hard-working farmer had been aillicted
with an exliaustive Dyspepsia ler a number of
years; his stomach would reject almost every
kind of feed; he had sour eructatiens con
stantly no appetite in fact, he was obliged te
restrict his diet te crackers and stale bread,
and as a beverage he used McGnmn's Heet
Hecr. He is a Methodist, and then, as new,
preached at times, anil in his discourses often
declaimed earnestly against all kinds of strong
drink. When advised te try
Reigart's Old Brandy,
In Ills case, he looked up with astonishment,
but after hearing of its wonderful effects in
the cases ofseme of his near acquaintances, he
at last consented te fellow our advice. He
used the Hramly faithfully and steadily; the
til's t bottle giving him an appetite, and before
the second was taken he was a sound man. with
a stomach capable of digesting anything which
he chose te eat. He still keeps it and uses a lit
tle occasionally; and since lie has this medi
cine he has been of very little pecuniary bene
fit te the doctor. A Practisike Physician.
