LANCASTER DAILY INTELLIGENCER. WEDNESDAY MAY 19 1880,
Lancaster intelligencer.
WEDNESDAY EVENING MAY 10, 1880.
Fer the Intelligencer.
IN THE EVENING LET ME ME.
An answer te " In the Noontide Letmc Die."
I would wait till the shadows are tailing,
Till I sec the sun sink in the west,
Ere I harken Death's trumpet me calling
Ere forever I lay me te Test.
Who would dle when the sun is still shining
In the noontide of life, warm and bright?
Who would miss all his grandeur declining,
Fer a fear of the shadows of night ?
1 would see all the clouds of the even
Shine resplendent with silver and geld, .
As if Ged en them smiled from His heaven,
With a smile that could never grew cold.
I would live all of life from it breaking,
Its meridian, widening and high
And at sunset would have my leave-taking,
In the evening of life let mc die.
I would live ler the knowledge ei living.
Fer the lessens et life I can learn.
Fer the pleasure of longer receiving
The sweet incense from wisdom's great urn -I
would live for the duties of living.
Fer the work that my hand may find,
Fer the goeil that my heart may be giving,
Fer some gift I may leave te m y kind.
As the apple till ripened Is bitter.
As the berry is worthless when green,
Se our souls ter a heaven were fitter.
Were they ripened below it, 1 ween.
Se, I'd live, that the Master may gather.
Te his store-house transcendent "en high,"
All my fruitage well ripened. Oil Father,
In the evening el lilc let me die !
As the life "ever there" is immortal,
As the longest life here's but a span.
Ere I knock at Eternity's portal,
I would see all of Time that I can.
Anil when Time is behind, and I enter
The bright realm that was bought us with
bleed,
Maya voice irem the throne in the center
Say "Well done, servant, faithful and
geed."
.
The Slery of Tilttcu's Leve.
Leavenworth Times.
The story of Tildcn's love is the saddest
payc in all the long history of his eventful
life. Let him tell the people hew in the
first bloom of early manhood he was be
trothed te a beautiful lady of one of the
old families of New Yerk ; hew her par
ents decreed that en account of her youth
she should spend two years in Europe
before her marriage ; hew they pledged
denial lidelity te each ether and registered
their vows at parting that no matter hew
many years might intervene each heart
should beat sacredly for the ether till a
kindlier fate should reunite them ; hew
the loved one sailed away in the famous
but ill-fated steamship "President," from
which no tidings have ever yet been
brought back ; hew annually, en that day
that the farewells were spoken, he repairs
te the seashore, and listening te the sad
murmur of the waves renews his vows, and
hew, through all the temptations that
have come with a long life of iullucnce,
wealth and power, the pledge of his youth
has been faithfully kept and his heart re
mains sacredly true te his first love while
the years glide by.

"With the rapiililvy increasing prebabili

warmth.
But never mind about Mr. Blaine. He
will at least be a candidate well fitted for
defeat, and that is all the Bcpublicans need
provide for.
The Democrats will put up the man te
be elected, while the Republicans will save
a geed deal of reputation by rejecting

Mr. II. E. Slaymaker, Agent for ReigartV old
Wine Stere, by a prominent practicing physi
cian et this county, who has extensively used
the Brandy referred te in his regular practice.
It is commended te the attention of thesu af
flicted with
Indigestion and Dyspepsia.
BRANDY AS A MEDICINE.
This new much abused Alcoholic Stimulant
was never intended as a beverage, but te be
used as a medicine of great potency in the cure
of some of the destructive diseases which
sweep away their annual thousands- of victims.
With a purely philanthropic motive we pre
sent te the favorable notice et invalids espe
cially these afflicted with that miserable dis
ease Dyspepsia, a specific remedy, which is
nothing mere or less than
Brandy.
The aged, with feeble appetite ami mere or
less debility, will And this simple medicine,
when used properly,
A Sovereign Remedy
erall their ills and aches. Be it, however
strictly understood that we prescribe and use
but one article, and that is
ItEIGART'S OLD BRANDT,
Sold by our enterprising young friend, II. E
SLAYMAKER. This Brandy has steed the
test for years, and has never failed, as far
as our experience extends, and we therefore
give it the preference ever all ether Brandies,
no matter with hew manyjaw-breaking French
titles they are branded. One-fourth of the
money that is yearly thrown away en various
impotent dyspepsia specifics would sullice te
buy all the Brandy te cure any such case or
cases. In proof of the curative powers et
Heigart's Old Brandy,
In cases of Dyspepsia, we can summon mini
hers of witnesses ene case iu particular we
cite:
A hard-working fanner had been afflicted
with an exhaustive Dyspepsia ler a number of
years: his stomach would reject, almost every
kind of feed; he had sour eructatiens con cen con
stantlyeo appetite in fact, lie was obliged te
restrict his diet te crackers and stale bread,
and as a beverage he used McG rami's Reet
Beer, lie is a Methodist, and then, as new,
preached at times, anil in his discourses elten
declaimed earnestly against all kinds of strong
drink. When advised te try
Reigart's Old Brandy,
In ills case, lie looked up with astonishment,
but after hearing of its wonderful eireets in
the cases of some of his near acquaintances, he
at last consented te fellow our advice. Ho
used the Brandy faithfully ami steadily; the
first bottle giving him an appetite, and before
the second was taken lie was a sound man. with
a stomach capable of digesting anything which
he chose te eat. He still keens it anil uses a lit
tle occasionally; and since lie has this medi
cine he has been of very little pecuniary bene
fit te the doctor. A Piiactihise I'iivsiciajc.
