A Somewhat Extraordinary Story from the Tar-Heel State. The follewinc extraordinary story is published from Franklintown, N. C, ever the signature of Mr. J.W. Weaver, of that town. He says Mrs. Martha Smith, of Chatham, reports a remarkable case of suspended animation, burial and resurrec tion in the person f a married lady in that county -who possessed a geld watch and finger-rings which she often expiessed a desire te have buried with her wherever she should die. Finally she was taken ill and her life seemed te gradually ebb away until her attending physician pronounced it extinct. At her burial her previously expressed desire was complied with, and tne sccenumgnt auer me liucnuuut a .; man and a negre went te the grave and exhumed her for the purpose of obtaining the buried jewelry. As they took the lid off the coffin and the negre began pulling off a ring from her finger she raised up. At this both men took fright and ran away. Finally the negre went back and she asked him what he wanted. lie told her he wanted her rings and the white man her watch. She requested te see the white man, whom the ether seen found and brought te her. She requested him te go home with her. He did se, and when she reached the deer she knocked. Her hus band opened the deer, but fainted when he saw her, thinking it was his dead wife's ghost. Mrs. Smith says the lady is new living and bids fair te attain a geed old age, and that she visits and is visited by her frequently. Matrimonial Generalship New Orleans Picayune. The connubial management of American mothers is said te be mere skillful than that of the practiced dames of the Old World. The following story tends te strengthen the beats : An elder daughter had sailed from New Yerk with party of friends, made the grand tour of the Conti nent and finally settled down in Paris for a few months of rest and recreation. In that gay capital she had many suitors, two of whom were conspicuously eligible. They were se evenly matched in every re spect that the young lady feeling that she could be perfectly happy with either, were t'ether away wrote te her mamma that she was in the famous dilemma of the mule, equally placed between two equally attrac tive bundles of fodder. Mamma cabled her instructions with Cesarean brevity and Napoleonic promptness : " I sail te-morrow ; held both till I come." Sequel : Net long thcicafter mamma attended the wedding of her two daughters en the same morning at the American chapel. She and her daughters still "held both." xo.ir.nuxen.TH eueex STREET. n R.
