LANCASTER DAILY INTELLIGENCER. FRIDAY MAY 7, 1880. I ir V incaster jfetelltgencer, FRIDAY EVENING MAY 7, 1880.3 $7,000 In Geld Under the Bed. Monmouth (X. J.) Inquirer. Recently a lady from Keyport called upon W. K. Lyens, the numismatist of Freehold, and related a most singular story. She said that the authorities of Keyport were made acquainted with the case of a man named William Biers, who was apparently destitute, and in fact starving in that place. The author ities immediately appointed William Mor Mer rell as guardian ever Mr. Biers. He began te make an inventory of the house and found te his surprise a num ber of boxes under the bed, covered ever with carpet, containing geld and silver. One ber contained $7,000 in geld, includ ing a great many 20 geld pieces. The ether boxes contained a large amount of silver, seme.dating during and after the Revolution. We might remark here that the first geld issue of money was in 1795, and in the colonies, 1785 and 1787. The first silver coins were Lord Baltimore's shilling and sixpenny, in 1659, for the colonies. MEDICAL. PILES. Frey's Universal Pile Suppository. A sure cure for every form ei this distressing, painful and often dangerous affliction. Has never failed even where every ether remedy had failed before. Physicians use it. Try it and he relieved and convinced. Price, Trial Bex, 60 cents. Sold by Druggists. ANDREW G. FKEY. Proprietor. Walnut Ridge, Ind., a wealthy Quaker settlement northwest of Rushville, has lately been greatly excited ever a new re ligion, which they call "White Lightning Religion." The excitement became se great the schools were dismissed and the people left their places of business and farms te participate. The leaders pretend ed te have supernatural power and held bodies of friends with attempts te revive them until burial was compelled by the au thorities. A man named Pitts, a leader, married a woman imbued with the same faith and greatly maltreated the daughter of Pitts's first wife. He gave her a severe beating, compelling her te completely un dress te receive it. This se incensed the irreligious neighbors that they went te the house in a body, tarred and feathered Pitts and left him a sample of the rope te be used if the religious frenzy is net checked.
