Lancaster intelligencer,
FRIDAY EVENING APRIL 23, 1880.
Fish er Ne Fish.
The tendency te judge conscientious
efforts by results is common among par
ents. Johnny -who had run away from
school te go fishing was greeted at the gate
by his father who briskly inquired, "Well,
sonny, where have you been?"
"Been fishing."
' Did you catch anything ?"
"Caugh them !" and Johnny held up a
beautifully asserted string of fish of all
sizes except large ones.
" Ah ! that's right sonny. Take 'em out
in the back yard and dress 'em. "We'll
have a geed breakfast."
Encouraged by kind words, as all boys
are, Johnny once mere slid away from
school and all that the teacher would say
and de en account of his absence the day
before, and tried angling again. Meeting
his father en his return he was greeted
with, ' Helle, sonny, where' ve you been?"
" Been fishing."
"What did you catch?"
" Na-a-a-thine."
"March yourself, march yourself into
the house. I'll teach you te run away
from school and go fishing, when you
knew you can't catch anything." There
was howl sauce, but no fish for break
fast next morning. New Haven Eegister.

Hew Save the Bags.
The most noticeable, perhaps, of all the
advances during the late boom have been
in the price of rags ; which have mere than
doubled in value, and are new worth three
and a half cents per pound. At this price,
and even at much less, it will pay te save
them and sell them. The same is true of
old paper of nearly every kind, as by clean
ing they arc reconverted into white paper
by the manufacturers.
In consequence of the scarcity of rags
and old paper, the price of print, or paper
for news purposes, has gene up from six
and a-half te ten cents at wholesale. If
this price keeps up, there will be a gener
al raise in the subscription price, as has
indeed in many instances already occurred.
Almest any family can make enough in
a year by selling rags and old paper, te
pay for all their reading matter.
Given up by Docteis.
' Is It possible tliat Mr. Godfrey Is up ami at
work, ami cured by se simple a remedy?"
" I assure you it is true that lie is entirely
cured, and with nothing but Hep Bitters ; and
only ten days age his doctors gave him up and
said he must die !"
" Well-a-day 1 That is remarkable ! I will go
this day and get some ler my peer Geerge I
knew hops are geed." al5-2wd&w
Malaria Destroyed.
G. A. J. Gadbels, of Breckvillc. Canada, cer
tifies that lie was prostrated by a malarial dis
ease contracted in Texas, and was quickly and
completely cured by the use of Warner's Safe
Tills and hate Hitters. He adds: "I shall never
travel in that climate without your Sate Tills
and Bittern as a part of my euttit."
