Registering Women Voters in Bosten.
We are indebted te a " staff correspond
ent" for the following anecdote concern
injl tlic recent registration of female voters
iu Bosten. Its accuracy is vouched for by
an eminent artist one of tlic most distin
guished stone cutters of the Hub.

Astronomical Notes.
These of eurcitizens who arc early risers
were afforded or would have, if the sky
had been clcar-thc opportunity of seeing in
the eastern heavens thismerning.a phenom
enon which is always beautiful and in
teresting, the conjunction of the brilliant
planets Jupiter and Venus. Strictly speak
ing, the true conjunction, when they are
en the same north and south line, took
place yesterday at 1) p. m., but they were
then further apart than en the morning of
the 10th, when their distance is less than
the apparant diameter of the moon. The
planet -Mercury, which is se hard te find en
account of its proximity te the sun,
may also be seen very near his two mere
brilliant companions a little further te the
west. All three planets arc moving cast
ward, but Venus much faster than
cither of the ethers. Jupiter passed
Mercury en the 8th. Venus passed Mer
cury yesterday, and is in conjunction with
Jupiter, which is in conjunction with Mer
cury again en the 18th, the latter planet
having quickened its pace in the meantime
and overtaken the mere steady Jupiter.
Saturn is very unfavorably situated for
observation, being nearly in the direction
of the sun. Mars is gradually declining
toward the west, but can still be seen in
the early evening. Uranus alone of all the
planets is in a convenient position, but re
quires a powerful telescope te be well seen.
The large red spot upon Jupiter's disc,
which attracted se much attention last
year, is still visible, and may be seen with
an ordinary telescope whenever the rotation
of the planet brings it into view.
