THIRD EDITIOI.
TUESDAY EVENING APRIL 6, 1880.
WEATHER INDICATIONS.
Washington, 'April C Fer the Mid
dle Atlantic states colder, partly cloudy
weather, occasional light rains or snejr,
winds mostly north westerly, falling fel
lowed by rising barometer.
THE INDEPENDENT VOTER.
He was Abroad in tne Laud Yesterday.
Dubuque, Iowa, April 6. The munici
pal election in this city resulted in a man
ner wholly unexpected by either the
Democratic or Republican parties. The
Republicans went into the campaign
completely demoralized by declinations
until but two names were left en
their ticket. The Democrats were
dissatisfied with their nominations and
indepenent candidates were brought out
for mayor and recorder. These at the last
hour the Republicans endorsed and the
Democrats elected the treasurer, recer
der, attorney and assessor en the
regular ticket, and the opposition
elected the mayor, who is the present in
cumbent and a strong Democrat. The
auditor is a Republican. Of the aldermen
the Democrats elect two and the Republi.
cans three, making the next council stand
six Republicans and four Democrats. The
majorities en any of the candidates cannot
yet be given.
Cincinnati, April C. At 1 a. m. only
one-third of the city voting precincts had
been heard from, but the indications arc
that the Republicans elect Eshilby city
controller ever Heffman, Democrat, and
that they elect a majority of 12 members
of the beard of education. There was a
light vote polled.
In Columbus City the councils will be
Republican by six majority. In Teledo
the Nationals are defeated though party
lines were net strictly drawn.
Disturbances are reported at the polls at
Shclbyville and Scettsvillc, Ind., growing
out of a negre voting. At the latter place
the county treasurer was badly injured.
RAILROAD WRECK.
Xi-ht Express Tumbles Over an Embank Embank Embank
mentNoeody Hurt.
Mekidex, Conn., April C. The night
express train from Bosten last night was
wrecked near this city early this morning.
The first express car left the track and was
found lying en its side. The second
one tumbled twelve feet down an embank
ment and the mail car followed. The bag
gage car fell en the mail car and the re
maining cars crashed into each ether.
Strange te say, net a person en the train
received serious injury. The train was
running at the rate of thirty miles an hour
when the embankment caved.
CONGRESS.

Washington, April C In the Heuse to
day Mr.Clymcr(Pa.)meved that the Heuse

priation bill, which motion was antago
nized by Mr. Springer, who desired te
call up the Curtin-Yocum contested elec
tion case. Mr. Clymcr's motion was, how
ever, agreed te,and the Heuse at 2:20 went
into committee, Mr. Springer in the chair,
en the army appropriation bill.

A Step Towards the Iiiipcaclimsiit of
Mayer Kallecii.
San Fkancisce, Cal., April C The
beard of supervisors last night adopted
resolutions that the peace of the city had
been seriously imperiled by alleged incen
diary speeches by Mayer Kalloch, and au
thorized the judiciary committee te inves
tigate the matter and report. This it is
said is the first, step toward the impeach
ment of the mayor.

Messrs. Weeks & Petter have never doubted
the specific properties of Ccticuua. Cuticura
Reselvent and Ccticcra Seap, for the speedy,
permanent and economical cure of Humors or
the Bleed, Skin and Scalp. They are, however,
astonished at their universal success; for it
was te be expected that in the hands of some
hey would tail solely from spasmodic or igne-
ant use of them.
They are unable te say without fear of con
radictlen that no remedies ever achieved in

days of profuse application of Cuticura.
