Jli&lJ33LiSa: 3! 5jIjjjjtuIC- ?M r- LANCASTER DAILY INTELLIGENCER, FRIDAY, MARCH 19, 1880. Lancaster Intelligencer. FEIDAY EVENING, MARCH 10, 1880. The Imltatire Russian. The Russian peasant is net an inventor, but lie has a genius for imitating. He Las only te be teid te go and de se and se, and in time it will be done. He will in this manner become a blacksmith, a wood weed carver, a copyist of painters, an engineer, or a lapidary, provided he is only given time enough. He will watch the next workman te him using his saw. chisel or file.; then he will cautiously imitate him, doing a little at a time and nothing rashly. Next day he will show mere skill until in a few weeks he becomes a sufficiently skillful workman te be in trusted with tasks requiring great judg ment and even knowledge te execute. In the Granilei Fabrik, in Ekaterinburg, for example, the visitor is astonished te find men net above the rank of peasant, and in all likelihood convicts under surveil lance, executing the most beautiful engrav ings en beryl, amethysts, topaz and emci a!ds, or caning en jasper and porphyry vases with a skill which could net be ex ceeded, if equalled, in the great centres of line art workmen et turepc. Yet such intelligent laborers arc or wcie, at all events in Erman's day, fifty year age net paid mere than ninety cents per mouth, with rations of a few pounds of black bread. Yet they arc quite content with their let and toil en te make fortunes for the rich mine owners, who live in great state in five mansions. Even the master workmen or eversceers are only paid seme fifty-five or sixty dollars per annum, but they, like the ordinary labereis, have their perquisites in the unrecognized pilferings which they can manage te effect among the treasures they handle. Hey Champien Wing Shet or the World. Caiit. A. U. rteganlus Heal en by Fred. Erbi jr., ef.St. Jeseph, Me. Captain A. II. Kegardus, the champion wing shot of the world, has at last met de feat. His cenqucrer is a boy named Fred Erb, jr., of St. Jeseph, Me. A match recently took place between Captain Bo Be ganlus and Erb, at that place, for a pur.,e of $200 and fifty per cent, of the gate money ; each te sheet at 100 birds from five traps. The traps were arranged in a sort of semi-circle, the marksmen net knowing from which trap the pigeon would be pulled. Universal interest was mani fested and members of clubs of the Mis souri Valley, the club in the north and southwest as well as hundreds of ether sharpshooters were present. The wind was boisterous and cold before the shoot sheet ing began, and when young Erb fired the last shot, dropping his twenty-third bird in succession, the thermometer was work ing down te zero, and a fearful gale swept ever the grounds. Capt. IJegardus opened the match, and when each had shot at fifty birds, the score steed Erb, 40 ; Bogardus, 43. "When the lat bird fell the score steed Erb, 93 ; Bo gardus. 83. The St. Je. Herald says: 'The enthusiasm en the result cannot well be imagined. The crowd pressed forward with outstretched arms te take the victor by the hand, and some were sat iified te even touch him. He was a bigger man than Grant."' A S1.000 Guarantee. The lollewing article was voluntarily sent te Mr. II. E. Slaymaker, Agent for Keigart's Old Wine Stere, by a prominent practising physi cian el this county, who lias extensively used the Brandy referred te in his regular practice. It is commended te the attention of these af flicted with Indigestion and -Dyspepsia. BRANDY AS A MEDICINE. This new much abused Alcoholic Stimulant was never intended as a beverage, but te be used as a medicine of great potency in the em e of some of the destructive diseases which sweep away their annual thousands of victim-.. With a purely philanthropic motive we pre sent te the favorable notice ei invalids espe cially these atllictcd with that miserable (Ur ease Dyspepsia, a specific remedy, which i nothing mere or less than Brandy. The aged, with feeble appetite anil mere or less debility, will find this simple, medicine, when used properly, A Sovereign Remedy or all their ills and aches. Be it, however strictly understood that we prescribe and use but one article, and that is; REIGART'S OLD BRANDY, Sold by our enterprising young friend, II.; E. SLAYMAKEK. This Brandy has steed the test for years, and has never failed, as tar as our experience extends, and we therefore give it the preference ever all ether Brandies, no matter with hew man yjaw-breaking French titles they are branded. One-fourth of the money that is yearly thrown away en various impotent dyspepsia specifics would suffice te buy all the Brandy te cure any such case or cases. In proof of the curative powers et Reigart's Old Brandy, In cases et Dyspepsia, wc can summon mini bers of witnesses one case in particular we cite: A hard-working larmcr had been afflicted with an exhaustive Dyspepsia ler a number et years; his stomach would reject almost every Kind of feed; lie had sour eructatiens con stantly ue appetite in tact, he was obliged te restrict his diet te crackers and stale bread, and as a beverage he used McUrann's Beet Beer. He Is a aicthedist, and then, as new, S reached at times, and in his discourses elten eclaimed earnestly against all kinds of stren g drink. When advised te try Reigart's Old Brandy, In his case, he looked up with astonishment, but utter hearing of its wonderful effects in the cases of some of his near acquaintances, he at last consented te fellow our advice. He used the Brandy faithfully and steadily; the first bottle giving him an appetite, and before the second was taken lie was a sound man. with a stomach capable of digesting anything which he chose te eat. He still keeps it and uses a lit tle occasionally; and since lie has this medi cine lie has been of very little pecuniary bene fit te the doctor. A PiiACTiaine Phtsician. H. E.
