Opluiens Delivered Current Baldness, Ac
Tuis morning court met at 10 o'clock,
both judges en the bench, for the purpose
of transacting current business, &c.
Judge Patterson delivered opinions in
the following cases :
Aaren "Wisslcr vs. Martin, certiorari
from the judgment of A. B. Reidenbach.
Proceedings of justice reversed and set
aside.
Jehn Ilildebrand vs. Jeseph Bewman,
certiorari from the judgment of Benj. II.
Witmcr. The justice was ordered te per
fect the record and te return te the court
all the proceedings in the case had pre
vieus te the issue of writ of cetierari.
Adam J. Eberly, esq., vs. Daniel Bren
ner, garnishee, rule for a new trial. Rule
discharged.
Jacob B. Amwakc, esq., vs. the same
defendant, rule for new trial. Discharged.
Lancaster county bank vs. Ames
Kheads, rule te show cause why judgment
should net be opened and the defendant
let into a defense. Rule made absolute,
the judgment te remain a lien meanwhile.
Raphe township read, exceptions te re
pert of auditors. Repert set aside.
Jehn Jacobs' s assigned estate,exceptions
te auditor's report. Exceptions dismissed
and report confirmed.
Daniel Miller vs. Levi Wise, petition for
an issue. Judge Livingston delivered an
opinion granting an issue wherein Phares
W. Fry shall be plaintiff and Isaac L. Bair,
defendant. The issue is te determine by
jury the facts alleged in the petition filed.
Judgment Entered.
In the case of E. D. North, esq., vs. tlie
Lancaster and Reading narrow gauge rail
read, rule for judgment for want of a suf
ficient affidavit of defense. The rule was
made absolute, and judgment was cnteicd
in favor of the plaintiff for $1,059.65.
Bair & Shcnk vs. the same defendant,
same rule. Rule made absolute ; judgment
entered in favor of the plaintiff for $385.31.
Child Adopted.
On his petition Lcundcr J. Lindcmuth
was allowed adopted as his own child
Elizabeth Xaumaii. the court decreeing that
the said child shall assume the name
of " Elizabeth Lindcmuth " and have all
the rights of a child and heir of Lcander
Lindcmuth and be subject te the duties of
a child.
The Corener and tlie County Commissioners.
Hugh R. Fulton, esq., county solicitor,
presented a petititen from the county com
missioners setting forth that there has
been considerable complaint in regard te
the manner of the holding of inquests en
bodies by Corener Mishler, as it is alleged
that many arc held which arc net really
necessary. The petitioners therefore
asked the court te make a rule
te require the coroner te return the
inquest te the quarter sessions office
instead of the commissioners' office, where
they aie te be filed, and persons desiring
can object te the payment of them before
the court. The court said the coroner is a
judicial officer and they did net think they
had anything te de in the matter.
I'lan Approved.
The plan of the southern section of the
city was approved, with some slight alter
ations. The maps are en file in the quar
ter sessions ellice, where they can be seen.
License, Divorce, Surely of the l'cace, &c.
The tavern license of Adam Sterch, of
Columbia, was transferred te Frederick
Ituss.
Emma Truxell, of Columbia, was di
vorced from her husband en the grounds
of desci tien.
The case of the cem'th vs. Levi Eshle
man, charged with desertion by his wife,
was continued until April, as the parties
are new living together.
In the case of William McAfee, who
was convicted of false pretense at the last
quarter sessions court, a rule for new trial
was granted.
Viewer Appointed.
On petition of property owners of Mar Mar
eon street, asking for the opening of that
street west of Xevin street, the court ap
pointed the following viewers : Samuel
Evans Columbia ; A. X. Cassel, Marietta;
Wm. Ellmaker, New Helland ; Michael
S. Metzgar, East Lampeter ; Henry Eek
crr. Gordenvillc.
Sheriff's Sale.
Sheriff Striuc sold at the court house this
afternoon the following real estate, viz :
A let of ground, with a one-story frame
house, frame kitchen and ether outbuild
ings, in the borough of Mount Jey, as the
prepei ty of Jehn Wellege. Sold te J. Hay
Brown, esq., for $105.
A tract of land containing 23 acres, with
a two story frame dwelling house, bank
barn, etc., in Salisbury township, as the
property of Win. P. Eagle. Sold te Sallie
J. Plank for $2,300.
A let of ground with a two story brick
dwelling house, frame kitchen, stable and
ether improvements, in the borough of
Marietta, as the property of Dorethy Pat k
heiser and Andreas Parkheiser, her hus
band. Sold te Samuel Patterson, for $400.
A let of ground with a one-story brick
dwelling house and all necessary improve
ments, en the west side of Seuth Duke
street, as the property of the late estate of

Warren Schooley, the little boy who was
shot in Pittston, the sad occurrence of
which caused his mother te drop dead,
died yesterday afternoon. Ne arrest has
been made as yet. Tlie affair has cast a
gloom ever the whole community aud
great excitement p revails. An inquest will

In explanation of the above it should
be stated that the fees paid te Mayer Mac
Gonigle, arc covered by him into the city
treasury, for the use of the city, and net
for the use of the mayor. In the Third
and Seventh wards the fees paid the respec
tive aldermen are only for a portion of the
year Alderman Barr succeeding Alderman
Amweg and Alderman Dennelly succeed
ceeding Alderman Ilellinger, last spring.
Alderman Geed, of the Fifth ward, at
tends te no police cases, and, of course,
jets no fees. The sum total paid te the
aldermen and justices, though heavy, is
somewhat lighter than it was last year.
The fees paid te constables during the
past year arc considerably higher than the
aldermen's fees, and if added te the above
would swell the sum te about $30,000.

The dust has been flying thick and fast for
the past few days te the great annoyance
of pedestrians and store keepers.
Amusements.
"Dr. Clyde" Tonight. This delightful com

MALCONTENT MINERS.
Extensive Strike in the Clearfield Region.
Bloody Collision Reported.
New Yerk, March 6. A. special te the
Telegram from Clearfield, Pa., states the
disagreement upon the question of wages
between the coal operators and miners has
resulted in a general strike of the colliers
throughout the Clearfield region. The
conflicting elements both stubbornly main
tain the position they have assumed and
the prospects for an early or amicable ad
justment of the difficulty is anything but
brilliant.
The number of malcontent miners al
Houtzdale is about 3,000, while these at
Irwin and adjacent mining centres will
number between 4,500 and 5,000. If the
colliery employed by the Pensylvania coal
and Westmoreland company strike, the
number of strikers will be swelled
te nearly 20,000 men. The dissat
isfied men are holding secret meetings,
and it is currently represented that the
strike will become general and widely ex
