The following article was voluntarily sent te

nothing mere or less than

Fixing the Time for the Democratic National
Convention.
"Washington, Feb. 25. The national
Democratic committee assembled in Wil
lard's hall at twelve o'clock te-day te
select a place and appoint a time for hold
ing the national Democratic convention.
Everyone, excepting members of the
committee, was debarred from entering
the hall, a corps of police being detailed te
enforce this order.
Up te this hour 12:15 the committee
has net yet organized. The corridors of
the hotel are crowded with delegations
from the several cities, who are present
for the purpose of uiging upon the com
mittee the facilities their respective
localities afford for holding the conven
tion. As seen as an organization is effected,
Chairman Barnum will submit a proposi preposi
tion that representatives of the press asso
ciations be admitted. It is understood that
the claim of Chicago will be presented by
Mr. M. W. Fuller ; Cincinnati by Hen.
Milten Sayler, and St. Leuis by ex-Mayer
Brown. Any statement at this time as te
the probable selection of a place forhold ferhold forheld
ing the convention would be purely specu
lative. Each delegation appears te be very
sanguine of success.
At 1:30 the representatives of the press
associations were admitted te the hall.
Several resolutions were submitted and
amended regarding the time of holding
the next Democratic national convention,
and the resolution finally adopted fixed the
time as Tuesday, June 22.
Chicago, Cincinnati, St. Leuis, Phila
delphia, Baltimore, Md., Washington, D.
C, and Eugene City, Oregon, were
placed in nomination for the place
of holding the convention, but without
proceeding te a ballet the committee took
a recess.
