Farmer and Gardener.
Seasonable Advice te Him by tlic German-
town "Telegraph."
Tax the Dogs,
Then? is a great deal of discussion in .sov .sev
eral states en the question of taxing dogs.
Of course this is carried en in states where
such a tax is net new imposed. There was
formerly such a tax in Philadelphia, and
many ether counties in this state ; hut
the iaw exists, new, wc believe, only
in certain counties as special enact
ments. Our own opinion is that dogs
should he taxed throughout the common
wealth, and the fund applied te paying
damages te farmers sull'ering from the
depredations of dogs upon their sheep. It
would largely encourage sheep culture,
while it would in an equal degree
diminish the number of worthless and
destructive cure. The question of :i
general law ought te be presented te the
attention of the next Legislature.
Selving Pea.
Everyone knows hew difficult it is te sow sew
seeds in small gardens with regularity.
Toe many will fall in some places anil
tee few in ethers. "Where gardens are
large enough there arc drills which may
be employed te great advantage; but in
ether places drills de net pay. In Kngland
they hare hand-drills made like bottles,
with tin slides se graded as te suit seeds
of any size, just as in regular drills. Any
one can make these garden-sewers for him
self by grading corks te a bottle. Seme
seedslike peas, may have no cork. The
seeds in a bottle with the neck about half
an inch in diameter will show icas just
about wide enough. " Fer smaller seeds
holes can be cut in the cork te suit the
variety. Sonic seed of course could net
be sewn lv a contrivance of his kind, car
rots and salsify for instance ;but theie are
mam- which ceuld.and this is se far a gain.
Mrs. Partington Says
Don't take auv of the quack rostrum, as they
are regimental te the human cistern : but put
veur trust in Hep Hitters, w hieh will cure gen
eral dilapidation, costive habits and all comic
diseac. Thev saved Isaac trem a seven- ex
tract of tripe'd lever. They are the lirplus
mi ki el medicines. l2-2 d

MEDICAL.
Brandy as a Medicine.
The following article was voluntarily sent te
Mr. II. E. Slayniakcr, Agent for Reigurt's Old
Wine Stere, by a prominent practising physi
cian et this county, who lias extensively used
the Brandy referred te in his regular practice.
It is commended, te the attention of these ar
tlicted with
Indigestion and Dyspepsia.
BRANDY AS A MEDICINE.
This new much abused Alcoholic Stimulant
was never intended as a beverage, but te be
naed as a medicine of eresit potency In the cure
of some of the destructive diseases which
sweep away their annual thousand of victim.
With a purely philanthropic motive we pre
sent te the favorable notice et invalids espe
cially these afflicted with that miserable dis
ease Dyspepsia, a specific remedy, which is
nothing mere or less than
Brandy.
The aged, with leeble appetite and mere or
less debility, wUI tind this simple medicine,
when used properly,
A Sovereign Remedy

strictly understood that we prescribe and iim-

REXGART'S
OLD BRANDY,
Sold by our cnterpri-dng young
friend, II. E.SLAYMAKEK. This
Brandv has steed the test ter
trauk mark, viaiis. and has never failed, a t;ir
as our experience extends, and u e therefore
give it the preference overall ether Brandies,
no matter with hew many jaw-breaking French
titles they are branded. One-fourth et the
money thut is yearly thrown awny en various
impotent dyspepsia specifics would siillice te
buy all the Brandy te cure any such case or
esises. In proof of the curative powers et
Reigart'8 Old Brandy,
In cases of Dyspepsia, wu can summon num.
hers of witnesses one csise in particular we
cite:
A hard-working larnier had been siilllctcd
with an exhaustive Dyspepsia tern number el
years; his stomach would reject almost every
kind of feed; he had sour eructation con
stantly no appetite in fact, he was obliged te
restrict his diet te crackers and stale hu-ad,
and as si beverage he used McGrann's Reet
Beer. He is a Methodist, and then, us new,
preached ut times, and in his discourses, ettcii
declaimed earnestly agsiinst all kinds el strong
drink. When advised te try
Reigart's Old Brandy,
In Ids csise, he looked up with astonishment,
but after hearing or IU wonderful (-fleets in
the cases of some of his near acquaintance, lie
sit hist consented te fellow our advice. He
used the Brandy faithfully and steadily: tin
lirst bottle giving him an appetite, and before
the second was taken he was n sound msiu.with
a stomach capable of digesting anything which
he chose te eat. He still keeps It and usesu lit
tle occasionally; and since he hsis this medi
cine he hits been of very little pecuniary bene
fit te the doctor. A Fkactisi.ne Physician.
