THUESDAY EVENING, JAN. 8, 1880.
"LITTLE GOLDEN HAUL"
Original.
I have a lovely picture of a little maiden fain
With eyes like Heaven's own sizure, ami a
wealth of golden hair,
Ami a face as pmc and gentle as an angel face
must be;
And that little maiden'.-, picture, it is a world
te me :
Ami often as the shadows creep acies the
vrcning sky,
I take that little picture, and sit musing si
lently. And fancy builds rare castles, as I sit within
my chair,
And held that lovely picture el that little
maiden fair,
With her eyes of leaven's own azure, and her
wealth of golden hair.
Ami I high te find thec castle, only castled
in the air.
1 love te picture ler her a hit. ire clear and
bright.
Her cv'ry day puie muishinc, no clouds upon
her night,
Her pathway sticw n witii Hewer, no wnimcr
lriends among
1 he loving, the true hearted, who round her
pathway throng :
Hcrliiese pureand holy, se lull el Faith and
I.OTC,
As te seem a heavenly vision, el the blessed
lilc above ;
And my heart gees upward ler her, ler that
little maiden lair,
Willi her eyes of Jleavcn'.s own azuic, and her
wealth of golden hair.
And Ged's choicest blessings ler her, l the
burthen of my prayer.
Then I sigh Je think-hew cmptyaic eui hope.
ler luture year-,,
Hew sunshine turns te sadness, hew joy-, oft
turn te tears;
And I pi-ay that Ged nmy k--j her, that little
maiden lair,
Thie' all life'.s weary pilgrimage within His
holy care;
And whenever lie shall call her,be it noontide,
be it night.
May she eer lie leund waiting, with lamp
trimmed and burning bright.
Heady ler the Master's summons te I he land of
Heavenly light.
Ami I lay n-idc the picture, back te real lite
again,
Te Its trials and its tumults, and its hollow
hearted men ;
Rut whether in Lite'-. -Iiadew, or in its-un-
light clear,
The memory el iny musings lulls like music
en my ear.
And the joy el that sweet picture, el that little
maiden lair.
With herejcsel Heaven's own azure, and her
wealth el golden hair.
Is among iny choicest treasure--, and gees w ith
nie everywhere.

Shakspcuc loved and wedded a farmer's

Jehn Adams man icd the daughter of a

He had a bad opinion of the morals of the

sincere affection existed.
Milten married the daughter of a coun

imposed upon her, se they separated. Af
terwaids, however, she returned, and they
lived quite happily together.
