polls will open between the hours of 1 and
7 A. M., and close at 7 P. N.
KO 11141 :41l11)04
Don't take fur granted that we are strong
enough to elect Geary and Williams with
out bringing the aged, infirm and luke
warm to the polls. We have votes enough
to overwhelm the copperhead party, but,
they must be polled Don't fail to bring
out every man.
iIa"VOTE EARLY.
TEN MILLIONS MORE.
The reduction of the public debt for this
month is estimated at ten millions of dol
lars, making a reduction since March Ist
of Sixty Millions! That is the way Presi
dent Grant manages public affairs. A
vote for Geary is a vote in favor of the
administration of President Grant.
BOYS IN BLUE,' ATTENTION !
Remember that whilst you were at the
front fighting the armed rebels, Mr. Asa
Packer deliberately voted against the con
stitutional amendment granting you the
right to vote I Remember that he was a
rebel sympathiser ; the friend ofJeff Davis
and John C. Breckinridge; the particular
friend of Vallandigham.
arVOTE EARLY
ONE WHOLE DAY.
Every Republican reader of FATTIER
ABRAHAM is hereby appointed a mem
ber of the poll committee, to lay aside all
other business on next Tuesday and de
vote the entire day to the interests of the
party—to get voters to the polls, and see
to it that they vote the whole ticket.
Don't wrangle, or waste time by discuss
ing political issues, but simply attend to
the voting. That's the way to give twen
ty thousand majority for Geary and
ONE O'CLOCK I
Every Republican should have his vote
yeled not later than one o'clock on next
Tuesday afternoon. Every one should be
able to bring at least one voter besides
himself to the polls. By voting early and
working all day, every Republican can be
brought to the polls and the copperheads
badly defeated.
BOYS 1N BLUE BEXIKEHER 2
That a few years ago " blue-bellied
butchers " and " Lincoln's hirelings"
were the names applied to soldiers by
Packer and his party. Vote for Geary,
the hero and patriot.
A
Let every Republican voter bear in mind
that our Legislative candidates are square
ly in favor of radical reform. There will
be no pasting and folding swindle perpe
trated at Harrisburg next winter. The
whole ticket is an excellent one, and ought
to have at least 7000 majority.
DON'T NEGLECT II 1
Don't say that you believe you won't
go to the election, fellow Republican.
Your neighbors might think you had fallen
in with some one of Packer's satelites,
and Asa's money had influenced you to
assume an indifferent standing at this
important crisis. It would look so at least.
Give the whole day to your country.
ONE VOTE.
Don't overlook the importance of one
vote. Morton was elected Governor. of
Massasachusetts some years ago, by a ma
jority of one. One vote elected a Senator in
Bucks county some years ago. One vote
elected Bush over Bleck, in Northampton
county, for Representative, in 1854. One
vote may decide the election in Pennsyl
vania, and that one may be your near
neighbor.
fir VOTE EARLY.
VOTE THE WHOLE TICKET !
No true Republican will refuse to vote
the whole ticket this fall. The candidates
are all worthy the earnest and honest sup
port of every member of the party. Re
member, when you hear reports deroga
tory to the character of any of the Repub
lican nominees, that they are instigated
by personal enemies. Don't scratch a
name. VoTE TllE WHOLE TICKET!
VOTE EARLY.
Every Republiallaould endeavor to
poll his vote next Tuesday as early as pos
sible. Don't hang back, for if you do,
until late in the afternoon, the poll com
mittee will, in the discharge of duty, call
on you, and thus, perhaps, neglect others
who wed their attention. Thousands of
votes will be made throughout the State
by simply voting early, so as to enable the
committees to attend to all the "doubtful"
ones. The polls open at 6A. M. and
close at 7 P. M.
ROBBERS AT PACKER'S RESIDENCE
Asa Packer's Philadelphia residence,
(the Merchant's Hotel) must be rather a
hard kind of a place. On last Friday,
Mr. F. W. Lauer, of Reading, visited said
" residence,” and while there had his
money and a gold wateh stolen! Packer
wasn't at home, therefore, he isn't sus
pected. But, several of his democratic
friends have been arrested on suspicion.
44 0 H, ll' HERE, TELL ME WHERE?"
A cotemporary asks seriously, where
does Asa Packer live? Does he pay any
taxes? If so, where? How much? To
whom? When? Also, does Asa Packer
live anywhere? In presenting him as the
"I'ride of the Valley," which valley is in
dicated? Or, is Asadead? Are we in error
in supposing that he lives at all? And is
it really the Valley of the Shadow of
Death of which he is the impalpable pride?
THE TWENTIETH SENATORIAL DIS
TRICT.
lion. Alexanier Stutzman having with
drawn as the Republican candidate for
State Senator, the conferees have unani
mously selected lion. Edward Scull, editor
of the Somerset Whig, for the position.
This is an excellent nomination. Mr.
Scull is a true and well-tried Republican,
a gentleman of ability, and will represent
the district faithfully and honestly. That
he will be triumphantly elected, as he
ought to be, we have no doubt,
GirVOTE EARLY
1' , Iy.
Thus far all efforts, except one, to buy
Republican support with Asa Packer's
greenbacks have failed. Republicans are
not for sale. The exception referred to is
a one-horse newspaper in Reading, known
as the Dispatch, which came to the sup
port of Asa in the shape of a communica
tion the other day, for which the editor
says he is not responsible. But, as the
character of the paper is known, and the
means employed to secure its support for
the Cops understood, the investment will
prove a very profitless one. The Repub
licans of Berks county are a unit for
Geary, Williams and the whole ticket, and
they will give a good account of them
selves on Tuesday next.
REPUBLICANS, REMEMBER I
If Governor Geary is defeated it will be
through your own apathy! We have a
clear majority of the legal voters in Penn
sylvania, and if every man does his duty,
we are certain of success. Republicans of
Lancaster, see that you do your part in
thin great struggle! If the democracy
succeed this fall let it never be said that
Lancaster was responsible for it. See that
every Republican is brought to the polls.
We ought to give a majority of seven thou
sand this fall, and we will do it, if the
voters are all out? Then work! WORK!!
WORK!!!
Oi'VOTE EARLY.
THE RESIDENCE FRAUD.
Asa Packer resides in the Borough of
Mauch Chunk. Every democratic paper
in the State Omits the fact, by parading
his name, "of Carbon county." Be has
resided at Mauch Chunk for the last
thirty-five years. llis wife resides there ;
his children reside there ; his mansion
which he built at a cost of about 0100,000
is located there ; his place of business is
there ; his Railroad office is there ; he is
at his home in Mauch Chunk regularly, RAIN OR SHINE!

for mere temporary purposes ; he has a TM/0 Mt. Do not be deterred by the

because he could not get a majority of his
neighbors and fellow citizens of Mauch
Chunk to vote for him. And yet, this
same Asa Packer did, on the second Tues
day in October last, poll a vote in the 4th
Division of the Sixth Ward, Philadelphia,
and was brought up, vouched for and
pushed forward by a tavern keep .r named
McKibben Why don't the proper au
thorities look after this Mr. Asa Packer ?
'VOTE EARLY.
SKIES BRIGHT.
As the election approaches the pros
pects of the Democracy grow more gloomy.
The spark of enthusiasm which was visi
ble when Packer was nominated has been
completely extinguished. It is said Packer
himself has lost all faith in the promisee
of his party, and refuses to contribute his
money at the bidding of the cormorant,
who pester him on all sides. In Blair
county the Democrats are so disorganized
that they have placed no county ticket in
nom 11 at iOH and all along the Juniata
Valley the same hopelessness character
izes the opponents of Governor Geary. In
Alleghany the defeat of General Cass and
the nomination of Judge Williams has
had a depressing effect on the Democrats,
one of their principal leaders declining to
take any part in the canvass. In the coal
region where Packer is known, he is very
unpopular with the miners, and will not
command the usual party vote. On all
sides the skies arc gloomy and lowering
for the opponents of Republicanism, while
from every point the Republican sentinels
cry " All's warn' ,
'VOTE EARLY.
EVERY TAX-PAYER
Should remember that Asa Packer, the
Democratic candidate for Governor,though
a man of immense wealth, has used every
artifice and trick of which he was master,
to avoid paying his share of the public
burdens. Is such a man fit to govern a
commonwealth of honest and intelligent
freemen?
TOTER DO NOT FORGET
That ASA PACKER hasn't a loyal bone
in his body.
That Asa Packer does not pay State
taxes, and thereby denies that he is a citi
zen of Pennsylvania.
That he is head and soul of the Lehigh
Valley Railroad, a giant corporation run
in the interests of New York and antago
nistic to the interests of our State.
That the monopoly charges the enor
mous freight of nearly 4 cents a mile on
a ton of coal, while the Pennsylvania Cen
tral charges only 8 mills. Hence the high
price of coal.
That Packer's election would gratify
Lee, Beauregard and Jeff. Davis, and
dishearten Grant, Sherman and Sheridan.
That Packer's election is hopefully
looked for by every unrepentant rebel,
and would be deplored by every Union
man in the country.
That the railroad men of New York
(who ought to mind their own business,)
are pouring money into Pennsylvania to
secure Packer's election, for what?—for
Pennsylvania's interest, do you think?
Not a whit of it.
That the railroad corporations and aoal
monopolies earnestly look for his election,
in order to have the Executive influence
in the approval of acts thitt shall make
their operations still more intolerant and
oppressive.
That Packer's nomination was bought
with money, and not made upon merit,
private worth, or upon any public record
of his.
That Packer deems it necessary, in the
furtherance of his prospects, to spend hun
dreds of thousands of dollars for the pur
pose of buying bis election.
That to raise money for this object, he
became one of a powerful agency to raise
the tolls on coal, thus indirectly making
the poor men of Pennsylvania contribute
to the electioneering fund of their oppres
sor.
Voters of Pennsylvania remember these
facts, and vote for Gen. Joux W. GEARY.
A COPPERHEAD HIIHBUO.
We learn that some of the cops in Manor
township have just started, or rather at
tempted to start, a story that the Republi
cans are about to pass a law compelling
the people to furnish free boarding to all
the teachers in our public schools. But,
as the people of Manor township aro not
of the kind to be reached in that way, the
story is entirely harmless. Nobody out
side of Berks county is stupid enough to
believe it.
HAMM!
If you know a Republican voter who is
not registered, take him before a Justice
of the Peace and have the necessary affi
davits made. Blanks have been furnished
the County Commissioners, from whom
they can be obtained. Attend to this be
fore election day, and thus save trouble
and contusion at the polls.

during the strike, and when coal was
scarce and dear, Asa Packer's railroad

BUCKS COUNTY,
There is good reason to hope and believe
that the Republicans will carry even Bucks
County, not only for Geary and Williams,
but also for the county ticket. Beans,
one of the chief corruptionists and Past

session, is on the copperhead ticket for re

NO RETRACTION—ONLY A CORR ECTI ON.
In our last we referred to a lie—under
a mistake—by AudrewJackson Kauffman,
Esq., Chairman of the Republican County

the committee for certain printing. We
called on him to retract, and on last Mon

to retract! We accept the apology.

PACK R'B FRIENDS
Every deserter in Pennsylvania, and
every bounty jumper during the war, sup
ports Asa Packer for Governor.
Every grog-shop keeper in Bedford
street, Philadelphia, is for Packer.
Every professional thief in the State,
and every pickpocket, is for Packer.
Every man who voted against the con

to soldiers the right to vote, is a supporter
of Asa Packer.
Jeff Davis and John C. Breckinridgo
are for Packer, and so is Gen. Lee, Val
landighain, Mosby, and every other rebel
and traitor, North and South.
Di. Blackburn, who tried to import
small-pox among the people of the North,
during the war, is strongly in favor of
Am Packer for Governor.
Bill McMullin is for Am Packer and so
is Sam Josephs.
THE PEOPLE MOTING.
eal•On Thursday last the Republican
citizens of Lancaster, were treated to
stirring addresses from Major A. R. Cal l
boon and Capt. A. N. Norris, of Philadel
phia, on the issues involved in the, present
campaign. The Court House was tilled
to its utmost, and the enthusiasm was un
bounded. On Monday everting at the
Court House, this city, a crowded house
greeted the Hon. Wm. D. Kelly, of Phila
delphia, who expounded the doctrines or
the Republican party, and the fellacies of
the copperheads, to the satisfaction of all
present.
In. New Holland, on Friday last, a large
and spirited meeting of Republicans was
held, at which Governor Geary, Hen. E.
Billingfelt, Col. J. P. Wickersham and
others made stirring and efibctive ad
dresses. A number of meetings were held
in other parts of the county, which our
limited space forbids us noticing. The
" Old Guard" is fully aroused, and de
termined to do her whole duty on Tues
day next.
PACKER ON RECONSTRUCTION.
In 1861 Asa Packer publicly declared in
favor of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and
New York joining the Southern Confed
eracy. That, he contended, would have
been the true way to reconstruct the gov
ernment—an unconditional surrender to
Jeff Davis !
PHILADIMPULt.
Our friends in Philadelphia are confi
dent of three to six thousand majority for
the Republican ticket. The operations of
the Registry Law clearly indicate such a
result. The falling off in the Fourth
Ward, according to the list, compared
with last year is very considerable. With
a fair election in every ward Geary's ma
jority will reach eight thousand.
4156068487 90.
This is the magnificent sum paid Won
the public debt during the seven months
of President Grant's administration ! The
total amount for the year ending March
4th, 1870, will reach one hundrul niillioi s.
At this rate every dollar of the debt could
be paid off in about twenty years. Who
says that the United States cannot pay
her obligations in full?

REPUBLICANS, TO WORK
But a few days intervene between this
and election day. Republicans, are you
thoroughly organized? Is every block in
your election district carefully canvassed?
Is there any Republican you know of
anywhere who is not on the registry?
Consider these points carefully. Go over
the ground again, and if there is anything
undone, attend to it at once! The pros
pects are. flattering. Reports from every
part of the State are encouraging. It
only remains to cast every vote and roll
up an overwhelming majority for Geary

DEMOCRACY.
For shameless and abandoned destitu

miscalled Democratic party takes the pre

presumption that seems incompatible with
sanity. But where there is no principle
there can be no harmony. Look at an
other recent case. The Democratic party
of the city of Philadelphia, in convention
assembled recently, nominated a muni
cipal ticket. ' An indicated thief was
nominated for oue of the most responsible
offices. Thieves, as usual, ruled the con
vention. Perjurers dictated the ticket of
a party. Branded villains of every grade
of moral turpitude ruled the political con
vention of the second city in the Union.
So palpable was this fact s and so apparent
its effect upon public sentiment that the
more cunning and intellectual knaves who
manage the party saw certain defeat in
anticipation,
and took it upon themselves
to annul the nominationsl Without dele
gated authority they have put an entire
new ticket in the field by a simple despotic
exercise of assumed authority. • And all
this is •`Democraticl l, And the leather
