PARTNER WANTED—A RARE CHANCE.
—The Fakir of Vishnu being about to en
large his entertainment and reorganize
his company for the spring and summer
months, desires a steady, sober man to
join him and attend the buying of gifts
and general out-door business. Must fur
nish the best of reference. To a suit
able party having $1,500, one-half in
terest in the profits will be given, and a
trial of the business for a few weeks al
lowed before investing the money.
The Fakir was performing to crowded
houses in Huntingdon, where he closed
yesterday evening, after which he opens
in Miffilntown for four nights, to which
place all letters must be addressed. $2,500
can be earned each month. This is cer
tainly a chance seldom offered. The Fa
kir refers to the citizens of Pittsburg,
(where he performed five weeks ago to
crowded houses, clearing $1,600 in two
weeks.) Also, to the residents of Greens
burg, Johnstown, Harrisburg, Lancaster,
Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and
other cities, where he is popularly known.
STABBING AFFRAY.— An altercation
occurred in Smith's beer house on Satur
day night, which resulted in the serious
stabbing with a knife of Calvin Brought,
just below the heart, the cutting of Dar
by Kayes across the thigh, and some scor
ing on the back of Charles Phillips, all
which is reported to have been done by
Cornelius Feely. The dispute arose be
tween Kayes and Phillips, and young
Brought was stabbed while attempting to
part them. As the whole matter will un
dergo a judicial investigation, ami the
paucity of witnesses rendering a correct
account next to impossible, we deem it
unnecessary to say more at this time than
that Feeley and Kayes are in jail.
MUSICAL.— The County Musical Asso
ciation held its monthly meeting at Mc-
Veytown, on Tuesday last. The evening
session was largely attended. The next
gathering will take place in May, at or
near Granville Station. A few local cir
cles for weekly practice have l>een organ

stem,
B. J. Sills opened in the Market

large or small quantities of meat.
Professor Morris' Azumea, the pre
mium yeast, or baking powder, of which
Parrish's Pharmacy, says, "That many
dyspeptics who cannot tolerate fresh light
cakes when raised with yeast, can eat
them with impunity when raised in this
way : and in view of the harmlessness of
the ingredients, recommends their gener
al use," is for sale at Grove's, where every
thing else useful and ornamental that is
new, is sure to be found.
WORTH REMEMBERING.— We are now
running off our large stock of Tin A\ are,
all of which has been made with great
care and out of the best material, at very
low prices; also, one lot of tubs, buckets,
churns, rubbers and baskets, cheap, no
mistake. P. S. Those in want of some
thing rich and more durable than plated
ware, just call and examine our stock of
Nickle Silver Goods { opened a new lot to
day) and then price our finest ivory han
dle knives, and lie convinced that the Big
CofFe Pot Sigh is the place to buy your
House Furnishing articles.
Mrs. F. desires us to return thanks to
J. Irwin Wallis for a fine Coffee Pot, re
ceived several weeks ago and which ought
to have been sooner acknowledged.
The Water Company intends to enforce
the penalty against renters for suffering
other parties to use their hydrants.
A tine shoat ran under a wagon wheel
yesterday afternoon in Market street and

Three wild geese lit on the river above

We had a heavy fall of snow on Friday
last, probably 10 to 12 inches, which is
gradually disappearing. The season con

A young mare, about three years old,
