The aim of that paper is to make it appear we oh- j jeeted to that part of Mr. Riemensnyder's : prayer to do right , when we did no such thing. We objected h > its political aspect, ascribing the assembling of that conven tion of office hunters, political profligates, and rebels, to divine origin—calling on the people to rally to support Johnson, and lauding the latter with an adulation 1 that might well become an office hunter, 1 but entirely out of place in a minister.— | We have no objection to any minister in- j voking the divine blessing on any assem- ; blage, whether copperhead, rebel, tory, ! whiskey, gambling, or shameless political apostates, but there is a vast difference between invoking- a blessing on such as- j semblages and ascribing them to divine I origin , or lauding barefaced apostacy to ! all a man lias professed for years and call-j ing it patriotism. F rank s corner has set a good example to Market street in laying down a new pavement. There are a good many in f hat thoroughfare who ought to do iike wise. A valuable cow belonging to Billy John ston was struck by the locomotive of the Mifflin and Centre Railroad on Wednes day last at the Mill street crossing, and so m ich injured that she had to be killed We are indebted to Joseph Comfort for a lot of splendid cimlins—to Miss Sills for some line peaches of home growth— and to several parties for some large spec imens of apples. The public examinations at Kishaco quillas Seminary will be held on the 13th and 14th of {September, and a contest be tween its two literary societies will take place on the evening of the 14th. The public are invited to attend. MARRIED On Tuesday, August 14th, at the resi dence of tlie bride's father, by Rev F Jones, 11. p. LYNCH, of Commerce, Mo \f,'plT A r? THREE MONTHS FOR NOTHING.—A Valuable Offer. —The enterprising Pub lishes of the American Agriculturist offer that valuable journal free for the remain ing three months of this year to all new subscribers for 1867 (Vol. 26,) who send in their subscription during this month of September. The cost of the Agricul turist is only $1.50 a year, or four copies for $-5, so that $1.50 (or $1.25 for each of four persons,) will just now secure the paper for fifteen months! We advise everybody to embrace this opportunity. The Agriculturist is a marvel of value apd cheapness, and in no other way can one so well invest $1.50 or $1.25. The paper is adapted to all classes of readers in city, village and country. Its House hold and Children's Departments are ex ceedingly valuable and interesting every where. Each number contains 32 to 44 large double sized magazine pages, filled with original, instructive, and interesting matter. It is splendidly illustrated with many large, first-class Engravings, which are both pleasing and instructive, and alone worth far more than the paper.— The Agriculturist is diligent and un sparing in its exposures of ail kinds of swindling and humbugs, and in this way alon/saves the country hundreds of thou sands of dollars every year. Take our advice, and send j*our subscriptions at once to the publishers, Orange Judd & Co., 41 Park Row, New York City. COUNTERFEIT NATIONAL BANK NOTES —llow to Detect them. —Counterfeits on the National Bank currency are becom ing quite plenty. .Some are so poorly ex ecuted as to lie readily detected. Those which are altered may be detected by having the wrong designs upon their backs. The following are the designs upon the backs of the genuine notes: On SIOOO notes, Washington resigning his commission ; SSOO notes, surrender of Gen eral Burgoyne; SIOO notes. Declaration of Independence; SSO notes. Baptism of Poc ahontas; $lO notes, De Soto discovering tjje Mississippi; So notes, Landing of Co lumbus, 1492; $2 notes, Sir Walter Ral eigh, 1585; $1 notes, Landing of the Pil grims. All National Bank Notes, the backs of which do not correspond with the above, are bogus. But if there be in any part of the body any affection, such as a boil or ulcer, even a bruise, the blood'circulating through that part takes up impure matters from the local af fection and envies it into the general system. This is the cause often of sudden death to persons of full habit afflicted with hoils and ulcers, and who use no medicine; the matter get* jjyto the circulating sys tern and chokes up the fine blood vessels which sup ply the brain with vitality, and life ceases as if BEREFT BY LIGHTNING.
