THE STATE TAX.— The Commission ers we learn have made, or intend to make, application to the Legislature to authorize them to collect the three mills assessed for State purposes, which has been released by the iegi>laiure, and appropriate the same to county pumoves. i here is we tind much oh ■ i lioii to tins movement; lirst, on the ground that the commissioners have already levied in this year's tax a sum sufficient to pay off about 810,000 of the bounty debt; and second, that to numerous tenants who pay half or the whole of taxes on property they oceu pv, tiie design of the Legislature would be entirely defeated, as all these ten ants would thus be paying out of their labor taxes which belong to and would ultimately come from the prop* rty This objection is certainly a vuiid one, to instance which we know of one case, where if will make a difference of We make the fact known, so that those interested may take measures to conn teract the movement, if they are dis satisfied with the action of the com missioners.
