I I'la in, Cheap, and Good Cake— Rah i pound of buffer into 1 pound of fine flour; arid 4 oz, of moist sugar, pound of currants, £ pound of raisins, 2 oz. of can died peel, shred tine, a pinch of nutmeg and salt. Mix well one tablespoonlul ot carbonate of soda in half a pint of cold milk; pour these on to the other itigredi elds and beat them into a paste, Butter u tin, and Hue the aides and bottom with buttered writing paper; drop in the dough without allowing it to rise, and bake for -OU'2 hour and a hail in n moderate oven. Y 'ice Soda Cafci. —One pound flour, quarter pound ground rice, half pound currants, half pound butter, half pound sugar, quarter pound candied peel, and a teaspoonful carbonate soda. Mix with haifa pint ot cold milk and two eggs Rake two hours. Milk Lemonade. —Dissolve three quart ers of a pound of loaf sugar in one pint of boiliug water, and mix with one gill of lemon juice, and one giil ot sherry; then add three gills of cold milk. Stir the whole together, and strain it. . Win- Cake* —Flalf pound butter, half flour, three quarters pound sugar, and two eggs; beat well together, and drop upon tins with a teaspoon. A few chopped almonds is a great improvement.
