Emigration Westward. —Tie line cf tie Illinois Central railroad appears to be attract ing rast numbers of emigrants, asdaeccsoUi from Chicago state that the land office of that Company ;n that city i# absolutely thronged with purchasers. The grant# to this road are pre bail J among the richest erer rna.de to any corporatien, and almest erery rariety of eil and climate, erer found in the latitude, is to is te be met with on the farming land% owned by the corporation. The leng crediu and easy terms giren, afford a str r,g inducement to maxiT whose means are limited to settle on the line of this road, and there can be liuie doubt that a few years hence will nu merous and thrifty population corering the whole central portion of the State from north to south. The direct communication with Chicago, which is the greatest grain empori um of the country, will tend t. hasten the final and complete settiemer t of the country along this line. L.ibih~LizT 01 Phtskuss.—lt has always been said that physicians wuld disparage , any remedy, howerer valuable, which they did not originate themselves. Tbie ha# been disproves by their liberal course toward D. J. C. AVER * preparation*. They have adopt ed them into general use in the : r practice, which show# a willingness to countenance articies that rue intrinsic merits which Qe serre their attentios. This does the learned profession great credit, and effectually contra dicts the prevalent erroneous netion that their opposition to proprietary remedies is based in their interest to discard them. We have always had confidence in the honorable me tivee" of our medical men, and are glad to find it sustained by the liberal welcome they accord to such remedies as Aytr't Cherry Ftc total and Cathartic Pxllt, eTea though they are not ordered in the books, but are made known to the people through the newspapers. —JVew Qrltunx Dtlta stLE or THE M UX LIKE It is misn* eg as wee the perr.niciry with which the canal k>eches—both ins t&t vuvt— oppose tbe sale of the Mi. : t Lint af la-rvr*- SBtaie.
