    AVER'S
Are curing the Sick to an extent never
before known of any Medicine.
INVALIDS, READ AND JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES.
JULES IIAUEL, Esq., the well known perfumer, of
Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, whose choice products
are found at almost eveir toilet, says :
"I am happy to sav of your CATHARTIC PI US, that I
have found them a better family medicine, tor common
use, than any other within my knowledge. Many of my
friends have realized marked benefits from them, and co
incide witii me in believing that they possess extraordinary
virtues for driving out diseases and curing 1 lie sick. They
are not only effectual, but safe and pleasant to be taken
qualities which must make them valued by the public,
when they are known."
The venerable Chancellor WAHDLAVV writes from Bal
timore, I.sth April, 18.5*1:
"Da. J. C. AVER Sir: I have taken your Pills with
great benefit, for the listlessness, languor, hiss of appetite,
and Bilious headache, which has of late years overtaken
me in the spring. A few doses of your Piils cured me. I
have used your Cherry Pectoral many years in my family
for coughs and colds with unfailing success. You make
medicines which cure ; and 1 tee I it a pleasure to commend
you for the good you have done and are doing."
JOHN F. BEATTY, Es*., Sec. of the Penn. Railroad Co.
savs :
" Pa. ft. ft. Office, Philadelphia, Dec. 13, 1853.
"Sir: I take pleasure in adding my testimony to the
efficacy of your medicines, having derived very material
benefit from the use of hoth your Pectoral aud Cathartic
Pills. I am never without theiu in my family, nor shall 1
ever consent to be, while my means will procure them."
The widely renowned S. S. STEVENS, M. 1)., of \\ eiit
vrorth, N. H., writes:
"Having used your CATHARTIC PII.LS in my practice, 1
eertifv from ex|erience that they are an invaluable purga
tive. In cases of disordered functions of lite liver, causing
headache, indigestion, costiveness, and the great variety
of diseases that follow, they are a surer remedy than any
other. In all cases where a purgative remedy is required,
I confidently recommend these Pills to the public, as
superior to any oliter I have ever found. They are sure
in their operation, and perfectly safe qualities which
make them an invaluable article for public use. 1 have
for many years known your Cherry Pectoral as the liest
Cough medicine in the world . and these Pills tire in no
wise inferior to that admirable preparation for the treat
ment of diseases."
" .Icton, Mr., A 'or. 2.5, 1853.
" DR. J. C. AVER Dear Sir: 1 have been afflicted from
my birth with scrofula in its worst form, and now, after
twenty years' trial, anil an untold of amount of suffering,
have been completely cured in a few weeks by your Pills.
With what feelings of rejoicing I write can only he
imagined when you realize what 1 have suffered, and bow
long.
" Never until now have I been free from this loathsome
disease in some shape. At times it attacked my eyes, and
made me almost blind, besides the unendurable pain j at
others it settled in the scalp of my head, and destroyed my
hair, and has kept me partly bald all my days ; sometimes
it came out in my face, and kept it lor months a raw sore.
"About nine weeks ago 1 commenced taking your Ca
thartic Pills, and now am entirely free front the complaint.
My eyes arc well, my skin is fair, and my hair lias com
menced a healthy growth j all of which makes me teal
already a new person.
41 Hoping this statement may be the means of conveying
information titat shali do good to others, I am, with every
sentiment of gratitude, Yours, Ac.,
MARIA RICHER."
44 1 have known the above named Maria Ricker trona
Iter childhood, and her statement is strictly true.
ANDREW J. MESKKVE,
Overseer of the Portsmouth Manufacturing Co."
CAI-T. JOEL PRATT, of the ship Marion, writes from
Boston, 20tli April, 1854:
44 Your Pills have cured me from a bilious attark which
arose from derangement of the Liver, which had become
very serious. 1 had failed of any relief by my Physician,
and from every remedy I could try ; but a lew doses of
your Pills have completely restored me to health, i have
given them to my children for worms, with the best ef
fects. They were promptly cured. 1 recommended them
to a friend for costiveness, winch had troubled hitn for
months ; lie told me in a few days ihev had cured him.
You make the best medicine in the world ; and I ant free
to say so."
Read this front the distinguished Solicitor of the Supreme
Court, whose brilliant abilities have made him well
known, not only in this hut the neighboring Stales.
44 A'ttr Orleans, 5tA April, 1854.
"Sir: I have ereat satisfaction in assuring you that
myself and family have been very much benefited by your
medicines. My wife was cured, two years since, of a se
vere and dangerous cough, by your CHERRY PK< TOBAU,
and since then has enjoyed perfect health. My children
have several times been cured front attacks of the fnffu
enza and Croup by it. It is an invaluable remedy for
these complaints. Your CATHARTIC PILLS have entirely
cured me from a dyspepsia and costiveness, which has
grown upon me for some years,— indeed, this cure i*
much more important, from tite fact that 1 had failed to
get relief from the best Physicians which this section of
the country affords, and from any of the numerous reme
dies 1 had taken.
44 You seem to us, Doctor, like a providential blessing
to our family, and you may well sunfMserfv* are not ua
mindful of it. Yours respectfuliv,
LEAVITT THAXTER."
41 Senate Chamb'—, Ohio, Jlprd bth, 1854.
" Da. J. C. AVER— Honored Sir: I have made a thor
ough trial of the CATHARTIC PILLS, left me by your agent,
and have been cured by them of the dreadful Rheumatism
under which he found me suffering. The first dose re
lieved me, and a few subsequent doses have entirely
removed the disease. I feel in better health now than for
some years before, which I attribute entirely to the effects
of your CATHARTIC PILLS. Yours w ifh great respect,
LUCIUS B. METCALF."
The above are all from persons who are publicly known
where they reside, and who would not make these state
ments without a thorough conviction that they were true.

those in prominent
rank stands
BOWMAN'S
VEGETABLE COMPOUND,
A SAFE and speedy cure for Consumption, not only in
those milder forms of Throat and Lung Diseases,
such as Colds, Coughs, Quinsey, Difficulty of Breathing,
Bronchitis, Ministers' Sore Throat, Weakness of the
Chest. Asthma, Inward Ulcer, Spitting of Blood, Influen
za, Croup, Whooping Cough, Rain in the Breast and Bide,
Hoarseness, Catarrh and Catarrhal Affections, Inflim
ntation of the Lungs, Bleeding of the Lungs, Sec. But
its superior excellence is seen and tested in the more ail
vanced affections of the Lungs. For the truth of the
above statement and the efficiency of the preparation as
an antidote, we refer the public to the following lestimo
nials. Language is scarcely strong enough to tell the
great power of this wonderful discovery: The doubting
may try and be convinced. The proprietors point to the
following buna fide, certificates with confidence in their
influence on the com in unity; I lie y are but samples of the
many hundreds of testimonials in our possession :
Allegheny, July 19,1856
Mr. 11. M. Bowman— Dear Bir:—l feel it my duty to let
you know what your compound has done for my duush
ler, ami wish you to publish it if you can in hope that
some suffering one may be induced by it to try your val
liable medicine and be cured. My daughter was married
in 1853, and went to Cincinnati to live, here her hus
b itid (James lioyl,) was engaged in business. In six
months after her husband died, and 1 sent for her to come
home, where in four months she was confined and caught
cold which settled on tier lungs. It seemed as though we
could get nothing to help her. We tried six different
physicians for over one year and then sent to New York
to a celebrated ptiysici in there, and she took medicine
from him for eight months; but lie could not cure her. —
Her cough was fixed and stubborn and seemed as though
it would tear her breast during the paroxysm of cough,
and her breathing was al times very difficult. Failing to
get relief from physicians, we thought we would try Ay
er's Cherry Pectoral, and she took it regular for seven
weeks, but it did her no permanent good. We then tried
Sellers' Imperial Cough Syrup, but with all she still be
came worse, and it seemed as though she was beyond
cure, when one day my wife was in at one of our neigh
bor's houses (Mr Mayness*) and she saw them give your
Vegetable Compound to one of their children for a cough
and she got three or four doses to bring home and try it.
After my daughter had taken it she breathed a little eas
ier. and we sent and got a bottle of it, and when it was
taken there was a marked change for the better. I then
got six bottles, the most of which she took as directed
until finally cured—it is three months since, and she has
no! had a symptom of the old complaint, and is getting as
lusty as she ever w as. We all unite in our prayers to
God that you may be prospered and that your Vegetable
Compound may be the means of restoring he alih to many,
as it lias to one w ho is dear to us ; we cheerfully recom
mend il to the public as the best medicine for Lung Dis.

things for cough anil hoarseness but never got anything
to help me as it his done. I believe it to he the best anti

• Bowman's Vegetable Compound contains a virtue that
is not possessed by any other popular medii ine in my

THE GREATEST
MEDICAL DISCOVERY
OF THE AGE.
DR. KENNEDY, of Roxbury, has discovered
in one of our common pasture weeds a
remedy that cures
Every Kind ef Humor
from the worst Scrofula down to a common Pimple.
HE has tried it in over 1100 cases, and never failed ex
cept in two cases, (both thunder humor.) He has
now in his possession over two hundred certificates of
its virtue, all within twenty miles of Boston.
Two bottles are warranted to cure a nursing Sore
Mouth.
One to three bottles will cure the worst kind of Pimples
on the Face
Two to three bottles will clean the system of Biles.
Two bottles are warranted to cure the worst Canker
in the Mouth and Stomach.
Three to five bottles are warranted to cure the worst
case of Erysipelas.
Otic to two bottles are warranted to cure all Humor in
the eyes.
Two bottles are warranted to cure Running of the
Ears and Blotches among the Hair.
Four to six bottles are warranted to cure corrupt and
running Ulcers.
One bottle will cure Scaly Eruption of the Skin.
Two to three bottles are warranted to cure the worst
case of Ringworm.
Two to three bottles are warranted to cure the most
desperate case of Rheumatism.
Three to four bottles are warranted to cure the Salt
Rlieuin.
Five to eight bottles will cure the worst case of Scrnf.
ula
A benefit is always experienced from the first bottle,
and a perfect cure is warranted when the above quanti
ty is taken.
Reader, I peddled over a thousand bottles of this in the
vicinity of Boston. 1 know the effect of it in every case.
So sure as water will extinguish fire, sosure will this
cure humor. 1 never sold a bottle of it but that sold an
other; after a trial it always speaks for itself. There
are two things about this herb that appears to me sur
prising; first that it grows in our pastures, in some pla
ces quite plentiful, and yet its value has never been
known until I discovered it in 1846 —second, that it should
cure all kinds of humor.
in order to give some idea of the sudden rise and great
popularity of the discovery, I will state that in April,
1853, I peddled it and sold about six bottles per day—in
April, 185 J, I sold over one thousand bottles per day of it.
Borne of tire wholesale Druggists who have been in
business twenty and thirty years, say that nothing in the
annals of patent medicines was ever like it. There is a
universal praise of it from all quarters.
In my own practice ialwayskept it strictly for humors
—but since its introduction asa general family medicine,
great and wonderful virtues have been found in it that I
never suspected.
Several cases of epileptic fits—a disease which was
always considered incurable, have been cured by a few
bottles. O, what a mercy if it will prove effectual in all
cases of that awful malady—there are few who have
seen more of it than 1 have.
1 know of several cases of Dropsy, all of them aged
people, cured by it. For the various diseases of the Liv
er, Sick Headache, Dyspepsia, Asthma, Fever and Ague,
I'atu in the Side, Diseases of Ihe Spine, and particularly
in diseases of the Kidneys, Ac., the discovery has done
more good than any medicine ever known.
No change of diet ever necessary—eat the best you
get and plenty of it.
DIRECTIONS nut USE. —Adults one table spoonful per
day—Children .ver 10 years, dessert spoonful—Children
from sto 8 years, tea-spoonful. As no directions can be
applicable to all constitutions, take sufficient to operate
on the bowels twice a day.

and all others interested in the growing of Wheat and
other grains, that he is prepared to furnish GRAIN
DRILLS, with the above article attached, at the shortest

become an almost indispensable article to the Farmer,
and he will find that the attachment of the Gum Spring
will enhance its value at least one-half. All the deten

is entirely done away with by this arrangement, and a
man, or buy, can perform nearly double the labor that be
could under tire old plan, with much greater ease, both to
himself and horses. There need be no fear of the Spring
breaking, for if there is an article that will neither break,

A MARVELLOUS REMEDY L
FOR A MARVELLOUS AGE!!
HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT,
TIIE GRAND EXTERNAL REMEDY.
BY the aii! of a microscope, we sec millions of little j
openings on the surface of our bodies. Through
these this Ointment, when rubbed on the skin, is carried
to any organ or inwawd part. Diseases of the Kidneys, 1
disorders of the l.iver, affections of the Heart, Inflam
mation of the Lungs, Asthmas, Coughs and Colds, are by i I
its means effectually cured. Every housewife knows ;
that salt passes freely through bone or meat of any thick
ness This healing Ointment far more readily penetrates
through any bone or fleshy part of the living body, curing
the most dangerous inward complaints, that cannot be
reached by other means.
Erysipelas, Salt Rhenm & Scorbutic Humors.
No remedy has ever done so much for the cure of di
seases of the Skin, whatever form they may assume, as •
this Ointment. No case of Salt Rheum, Scurvy, Sore
Heads, Scrofula or Erysipelas, can long withstand its in- j
lliience. The inventor has traveled over many parts of!
the globe, visiting the principal hospitals, dispensing this >
Ointment, giving advice as to its application, and has '
thus been the means of restoring countless numbers to 1
health.
Sore Legs, Sore Breasts, Wounds and Ulcers. I
Some of the most scientific surgeons now rely solely :
on the use of this wonderful Ointment, when having to j
cope with the worst cases of sores, wounds, ulcers, glan- |
dular swellings, and tumors. Professor Holloway has, j
by command of the Allied Governments, dispatched to
the hospitals of the East, large shipments of this Oint- j
ment, to be used under the direction of the Medical Staff,
in the worst cases of wounds. It will cure any ulcer,
glandular swelling, stiffness or contraction of the joints,
even of 20 years' standing.
PILES AND FISTULAS.
These and ether similar distressing complaints can be
effectually cured if the Ointment he well rubbed in over
the parts affected, and by otherwise following the printed
directions around each pot.
Both the Ointment and Pills should be used in
the following Cases:
liuuions Lumbago Sore Legs Scalds
Hums Mercurial Er-Sore Breasts Swel'dGlands
Cliapp'd hands uptions Sore Heads Stiff Joints
Chilblains Piles Sore Throats Ulcers
