agricultural, Bad Economy. We frequently see heaps of lime lying upon the premises for months —Sometimes for a year —before it is applied to the soil. This is very bad economy. It is most valuable when applied directly after fal ling to powder. When long exposed to dew and rain, it loses considerable of its fertilizing power. It should be recollect ed that one of the cardinal virtues of lime consists in aiding the decomposition of vegetable matter in the soil, and in neu tralizing the acids which abound therein. Quick lime is much more eilective for this purpose, because long exposed to rains and dews, it loses much of its power and strength. Every one who has worked among lime has observed this. Lime plowed in with any gTeen crop must have a happy effect in aiding the de composition of vegetable manures, and also mi neutralizing the acidity common to ma nures of the kind. When thus plowed down, however, care should be taken to plow it up again soon after, as the natural tendency of the mineral is to sink deep, and if not returned to the top soil, would soon go beyond the reach ol the roots of many crops. Ilence we find that many farmers are opposed to plowing in lime. Plowing in litne with the sod or any green crop, cannot fail to be as useltit as snv other method, if care is taken to have it upturned again by early after cultivation. Weevil in Grain. We are informed from various quarters, of the serious depredations of the weevil in the wheat granaries of our farmers—in , some instances the grain being almost en tirelv destroyed, or injured to such an ex tern as to be unfit to manufacture into flour. Several persons have inquired for , us for a remedy : and we see the same in quiry made in several other agricultural journals, without eliciting a reply. We have but a small amount of knowl edge on which to prescribe a preventativ e for this evil. We know of no belter than to thoroughly white-wash the granary, in tvery part, inside and out, as well as the under timbers if possible, before the grain is put in. This we think, if well done, will stop their entrance. Where grain is already infested, air slacked lime, perfectly drv, sieved over and mixed through the grain, we believe will drive away the insect and will not in jure the grain, as the lime can be blown j away by running through the fan.— Germanlown J\lrgraph. This Medicine is a certain cure fit Dup-psis in its very worst forms. Thousands of cases have been corn- • pletely cured by it within the last year, which have been entirely despaired of by the regular family physi cians. We do not recommend it to cure everything—we recommend it to cure Dyspepsia, and the d seas. -- origi nating from it, and that it will cure in almost every case, and it ts recommended for nothing else. In many in stances, even the worst of cases have been compi-ti l\ cured in two and three months, but it depends somewhat ; upon the constitution of the patient. We would say to ' all who are allhcted with Dyspepsia, give Ibis medicine a fair trial, and if it talis to do good, your mom y v, ill be returned. ALSO, My Vegetable Worm Powders. This is the most wonderful Worm Destroyer ever known, and at the same time, so pleasant to take, that almost every child will be fond of it, and many instances liave been known of children crying for more after once taking it. This medicine is in the form of a powder, the only j medicine ever used in that form, and it operates on a principle entirely different from any other medicine ever administered by any other physician. It is the only \ medicine which has no Worm-seed Oil or Turpentine combined with it, which is believed by all other physi cians. to be the only two things which will destroy J worms, and these two things combined, together with castor oil, are the active principles of all other worm medicines, which every person who has ever tasted or smelled, knows to be the most nauseous of all nauseous medicines, and on account of which, there is generally ' something added to destroy this nauseous taste, and in order to do this, it must be something stronger than the medicine itself, and therefore, it must necessarily destroy some of its medicinal properties. These powders are simple and so harmless, that a child may eat a whole box at once, and it will not be hurl, while at the same time, the principle upon which it acts being different from any thing else ever used, it will destroy all kinds of Worms with a certainty never equaled. It will not only destroy the seat worms, or Ascarides, and long, round worms, or Teres, but is the most effectual medicine for the destruc tion of the Tape Worm ever known. Ten doses have brougiit as many as FIVE Tape Worms from one person. if your children have any symptoms of worms, try these powders, and in nine cases out of ten, you will-nev er use any other. These are also warranted. These medicines are all separate, and one for each dis ease, and each for oniy one disease. They are not re commended, as many other medicines are, to cure some fifteen or twenty diseases, and all of different natures, but they are each to cure but one disease, and Hat they will do in ninety-nine cases out of every hundred, and where they have a fair trial and tail 111 alt cases, the money will be returned.
