_THB GAZE 2 EE. How (ten. Scott's Nomination was received. (ritaf Dissatisfaction —over the left. We take the following from our exchanges. They exibit the enthusiasm with which Scott's nomination was welcomed by the people.— Demonstrations of this nature were made in all parts of the country. BROOKLYN*. —Last evening a salute of 100 Churubusco guns were fired from the Heights in honor of the nomination of Scott and Gra ham. The Whigs generally appear greatlv rejoiced at the result. JERSEY ClTY. —Here the enthusiasm for Gen. Scott was of the right stamp, and the fires of Cerro Gordo were lighted in earnest. NEW HAVEN.— The Whigs of this city fired a national salute of thirty-one guns in honor of the Hero of Chippewa. BOSTON*. —The friends of the nominee fired 100 guns on the commons in honor of the nomination. SALEM.—A spontaneous meeting of the W liigs of this city was held this evening, at which the following resolution was passed unanimously: Resolved, That the Whigs of Salem take this early occasion to ratify the nomination of Gen. Scott for the office of President of the United States, and to assure their Whig brethren throughout the country that they will bring to his support the full strength with which they swelled the majority of his predecessor in the glorious campaign of 1844. PORTLAND. —We are now firing one-hun dred guns f*r Scott and Graham. The Whigs are in fine spirits, and are celebrating the occasion witli rockets, fireworks, Ac. BANGOR. —The Whigs are giving evidence of the most hearty rejoicings at the nomina tion of Scott. One-hundred guns are now being fired, and the city is generally illumi nated by the friends of the nominees. KINGSTON. —The Whigs weke up the echoes of 1848 with a hundred guns for " Old Chip pewa' and his twin brother victory. ALBANY. —Gen. Scott's nomination was re ceived with great enthusiasm. The Whigs forthwith fired 1-58 guns, which strongly re minded the affrightened Locos of the storming of Chepultepoc. The ' Democracy' are in consolable. DETROIT. —The greatest enthusiasm prevails at the nomination ol General IScott. Within one hour of the reception of the news of his nomination, three hundred guns were fired in this city, amid the most hearty cheers of an immense assemblage. A ratification mooting will be held as soon as the nomination of \ ice President is received. CINCINNATI. —There was a great excite ment among the politicians on Saturday, but the Whigs were most agreeably disappointed when Gen. Scott's nomination was announced yesterday, and the most -evident satisfaction is manifested by the party here. The news •was first received via Chicago, from New York. RICHMOND, Va~, June 22. —The nomination of Gen. Scott has given satisfaction to the Whigs of this city. The Whig heartily endorses the nominations, and predicts that the Whigs of the South will rally to the sup port of Die ticket. CiiAMivEitsiiUßu, June 23.—The nomination of Gen. Winfield Scott was received here yesterday with the wildest enthusiasm. Bells were rung, and the most hearty cheers greet ed us on all sides. An immense ratification meeting for our town was held last night, which was addressed by several of our most prominent speakers. Look out for the Har rison times of 1840. WORCESTER, June 22.—A ratification meet ing was held here last evening, which was pretty largely attended. A salute of one hundred guns were fired. LYNN, (Mass.) June 22.—The news of the nomination of Gen. Scott was received in this city with great enthusiasm. Salutes were fired, &c. READING, June 22, 1852.—The nomination of Gen. Scott was received with the liveliest applause. In less than half an hour after the despatch was received, a detachment of the Ringgold Artillery, under command of Lieut. Dorrell, was on Peon's Mount, and tired a national salute of thirty-one guns.— On the opposite side of the river, an old revo lutionary piece under charge of S. Bertolot, Esq., responded in thunder tones. The heart warming strains of ' Old Tippecanoe' surrounded through the streets. Many who would have voted for no other Whig candi date have declared themselves in favor of the hero of Mexico. The whigs now consider that they have the thing in their own hands, and will do their duty. The Locos are completely chap-fallen.— Their hopes were that cither of the other candidates, or a new man, would be nominat ed. Not the least gratifying feature in the nomination of Gen. Scott, is the cordiality with which it was received by the supporters of the other distinguished candidates at Bal timore. TRENTON, Monday, June 21. —The news of the nomination ol General Scott was re ceived here this afternoon, amidst the greatest enthusiasm of the Whigs and of all our cit izens. Gen. Scott will carry New Jersey by a larger majority than either Clay or Taylor. You cannot imagine the degreeof enthusiasm. New Jersey will show where she stands. Loi'isvi LLE, Ky., Juue 20. —The ratifica tion meeting held by the Whigs, on Saturday night, at Memphis, is said to have been the largest and most enthusiastic ever held by the party in that city. The Tennessee pa pers received, say that greater enthusiasm lias never been manifested than that now evinced by the Whigs of that State. CINCINNATI, June 28. —The Whigs of this city held a Scott, ratification meeting, last night, at which not less than 8000 persons were present. Sixth street and Market space was densely packed with the assembled mas ses. The Gazette Office was brilliantly il luminated, guns wero fired, .and musical per formances added to the enthusiasm of the occasion. BOSTON, June 20. —The Whigs of this city held a ratification meeting to-night, at Fau euil Hall. A large number of persons were present, and great enthusiasm prevailed. — Among the cheers given were three for Daniel Webster. Hon. R. C. Winthrop pre sided, assisted by sixty Vice-presidents. In taking the Chair, Mr. Winthrop very feeling ly and with great eloquence alluded to the death of Henry Clay, and then passed on to speak of the object for which the meeting had assembled. After speaking of Mr. Web ster in glowing terms, he said that Massa chusetts was bound to abide by the choice of the Whig National Convention. He conclu ded by pledging his support to Gen. Scott, and his remarks were well received and loud ly applauded. Hon. L. V. Bell, Col. NVthor -1 and, of Tennessee, Hon. Win. Brandsford, of Kentucky, and others, also addressed the meeting; after which, the resolutions were j tad, declaring adherence to the Whig platform, and purpose to abide by the action , In so peaeeluily settling the Maine bound'rv line. Tell me, has he coutinu'd in peace since till now, And instead of tho sword been adjusting the plough ? Boss.
