4 7'/ie Great Restorative. —When a medicine
is well recommended by substantial, respecta
ble citizens, as are Dr. Hociland's German Hit
ters, sold by their sole proprietor, Dr. C. 51. j
Jackson, Arch st. below Sixth, no one need be ;
afraid to use them. We unhesitatingly rec- j
comend them ourself, because we have seen ;
such certificates of their efficacy, both in Europe j
nnil here, as to convince us on the point.
These Bitters are particularly excellent, we
would add, at this season. A purification of
the system, by medicines like the one in notice,
at this time, may make it better able to resist
the prevailing epidemic, the cholera, should it
visit our city'the present season..
MIL. EDITOR. —Having a leisure hour
the other day, I concluded to take a stroll
among your many stores in I.ewistown.
1 found in no store a better assortment of
goods, fresh and new, than at JOHN A.
STKRETT'S. His profit on every thing is j
small —so small that I cannot see how he j
can make a living. His made-up clothing, j
boots and shoes, and ladies' dress goods
are surpassingly cheap and beautiful. B.

More Truth than Poetry.
The people dear, as politicians say,
Is what makes us appear to-day,
We write in rhyme so that you all
May read, reflect, and give us a call.
For we have opened, and for sale designed,
Hoots and Shoes of every kind ;
For men and women we've supplies—
For children, too, of every size.
We've LADIES' ROOTS, the best that'* made,
And Misses' toe. of every grade j
Our stock of Gaiters is complete—
Our Jefferson's cannot be beat.
Our Jenny Find's are just the thing;
Rut of them we need not sing,
Merely say that they are cheap.
Double soled, and can't be beat.
Our Boots are all of the best kind,
A little the best in town, you'll find;
We've boy's boots too, so very low,
We ttr surprised how fast they go.
Of half our stock we cannot sing,
For It consists of every thing
That women, men, or boys do wear—

Supplies are always coming in ;
