Members of the County Com mittee for the ensuing year are also to be elected. FRANK P. SHAKKM , Chairman Dem. County Committee, BodKlotz is n pronounced Cleve land man. The disposition of our present conn cilto bo economical under existing exigencies is apparent in reducing the tax levy for borough purposes from five to three mills. We hope tue as. sessment will bo sufficient to meet all accuring debts, Ac. We continue lo add names to on subscription list while at the same time our columns scintillate wltn tin advertisements of enterprlsli.g anil wide awake business houses who want to each a large nnd intelligent class of people, if you are not a subscriber let us have your name nnd wo will place you on the race of honor. Leiiiohton EirECTS to have a big time on the Fourth of July when the Jr. O. U. A. M. will place a Hag on the publlo school building. The custom Is uow almost universal and is very credj itable. Let the good work go on; In stilt into tho hearts of (lie young the lessons of patriotic valor and herolo glory and our free institutions are forever safe. TnE intelligence of our iieople was again demonstrated Friday by the al most unanimous vote in favor of an increase of debt for the purpose of erecting a hose house and for tho equipping of tho Bame. We cougratu. late our people and likewise our enter. prising aud spirited town council who, laboring under extreme dlfllcul ties, aro giving hohighton first class local government. One side of the Democratic party this county met In Mauch Chunk last Saturday and appointed a committee to chaugo the rules. The same meet ing might have gone a step farther anil appointed n committee to confer with the "other side" of the Democratic party relative to introducing a period of peace in the ranks, liecauso it is ex treme foolishness to continue warfare that is without benefit to the whole party, it is time to get together. Our excuanoes still tell of many places that are capturing manufactur- lug industries, but wo fail to hear any thing of what Lehightou Is doing in this respect, though it Is ovident to all that wo need industries to further ai; vance the interests of this town. The only way to secure them, however, is earnest, sincere and united action by all our people, irrespective of class. creed, politics or condition. The sooner we get after something, why, the quick er we'll get there. Ir the registry assessors have done their duty the lists will be fouud post ed at the various voting places in the county Juno 4th. This will alford good opportunity to voters to see that their names aro on tho list. See that you aro registered. Under the new reg. lstry law the assossors begin making the list of voters In each district on tho first Monday in May. They are requir ed to mako a personal visit to each houso iu their district, and put the names on the registry In tho order In which they uro taken. Additional names of parties who move into the district can bo put on the list up to Ixly days before tho election, nut the asiessors are not required to make a second canvass. A 1'lue llei-orutiuii.
