At X beoent meeting of a number of
local assemblies of tbo IC of L. the fol
lowing resolution was adopted: "That
wo call upon all workingmen to toko
an earnest interest in the observance
of the Bemi monthly pay law by the cm
ployers. Every employeo In tho service
of tho corporations of this valley should
be directed to demand his wages every
two weeks, so that tho violation of tho
law would rest with those who aro
loudest in their protestations against
infringements of the law on tho part of
the working men." Thoy evidently
mean business and corporations would
do well to boar it in mind.

t The Lehigh Valley railroad, whllo

says the New York Recorder, is at tho
same timo ono of tho strongest roads
financially on tho American continent,
It is a child of tho brain of tho late Asa

E. P. Wilbur, of the Lehigh Valley, like
most great railroad managers of tho

yoars of struggle. From very small

Under his management the Lehigh

Only about ono hundred warrants
have been sent out to the school dis
tricts of tho Stato to cover tho appro

and weeks will elapso before the twenty,
four hundred districts will have re

$2,000,000, tho annual appropriation
under tho old law, is payablo is a mls-
I take. Tho amount is less than 81,(300,

Treasurer paid all but $5,000 of Phila
delphla's quota last December to John
Bardsloy, who got away with itina
mysterious way.
The plethoric Stato Treasury will not
only be relieved of a largo portion of
its cash by tho payemont of school
warrants, but in the near futuro many
appropriations will bo paid to the
numerous institutions to which the
Legislature voted monoy at tho late
