larly every Tuesday uonn. It does not'
havo time to enjoy many minutes ot
rest from IU long journey lu the post
office before it is brought home and its
contents eagerly read, and then not de
stroyed or used for other purpoe, as
Is often the case, hut U tjuletly laid
away by the side of Its brothers for
future reference. It has brought us
good news many times, hut nisi), (ui few
occasions, bad news Some tale-benrer
circulated n report that wo were very
tired of the west, wUhlnp we were back
again lu the east. There Is not u word
ik truth In the repoit. Wo like it bet
ter .than we expected we would, I sup
pose in a few years wo tliall have lost
all desire of returning, except on n visit.
Your .readers would no doubt like to
hear something about our crops. I am
tjony that 1 must say that every crop,
VflUi the exception of potatoes, will "be
a failure without a doubt. Wheat at
the best will ho but ouo half a crop.
AVe had a very wet spring ; the oldest

On former occaslous farmers often
sowed their oats lu the last week of
Kebruary or the first week In March
this year some finished sowing tho flret
week In May. Sumo is to short tliat It
can hardly he gathered. On the 4th of

corn was planted In June than In May.
Many were obliged to replant. Since
It was planted It has been very wet,
causing tho weeds to grow rapidly, nml
we are unnhle to destroy thorn. If this
statu of weather should Continue much

cntlro failure. Totato bugs havo not
made their appearance. It is supposed
tho excesslvo rains havo drowned them
in tho earth. Early potatoes will bo
plenty. Last year peaches were so
plenty that all could not bo used, whllo
this year wo havo none. Wo havo
plenty of apples. Moro In the future.
