Painful Accident.—On Tues

the Potomac at City Point propose grati
fying the invalids there with a 'Clirittmas
dinner. They have addressed Governor
Curtin upon the subject, and the latter,
as will be seen, commends the proposed
act with characteristic cordiality. We
are sure that the mere announcement of
this timely and Praiseivorthy movement
will be quite sufficient to elicit the requi
site liherality on the part of our citizens,
to carry it out:
