Esq., delivered a short address. On both the
above occasions the most enthusiastic cheering

NEVER before was the excitement
and enthusiasm so intense in Lebanon as last
week. The Lebanon Guards, Capt. Ulrich, the
first volunteer company raised in this borough,
organized end accepted by the government, was
ordered on Saturday to Harrisburg. An hour or
two before their departure they participated in
the raising of the flags at Mr. Fbirk's and the
Lebanon Bauk, and then proceeded to Punch's
Hall, where each man was presented with a eon
tribution in money by the citizens and a Bible by
the Lebanon County Bible Society. Rev. .S.
Miller also delivered a spirited porting address
to the Company.
The line of march was then taken for the depot.
They were accompanied by thousands of our cit.
hens, and the manifestations of feeling were of
every encouraging and cheering kind. Prayers,
tears, buzzes fur our brave volunteers, and &fi
ances to the enemy whece' dointermiti g e,t that it
is utterly impossible to "approach a description of
the seeds. As the cars left the depot cheer. upon
cheer rent the air. The - Perseverance and North
Lebanon Bands accompanied the Company to
Harrisburg, and the Unlink Band escorted George
K. Ifess, one of its members, to the Depot. A
number of our citizens also accompanied thent to
Harrisburg. . _
Upon the arrival of the Company at Harris
burg it wits immediately marched to Camp Cur
tin and there performed its fir - st night of duty on
"the tented field.
On Sunday we visited them in their camp and
were delighted to find theta all in glorious spirits.
It is impossible to describe the camp-scene whore
:thousands of men were - under drill and where
company after company was constantly arriving
while others were departing for the seat of war.
The only drawback in onr company was occasion
ed by the discovery that they had too many men
and that they must cat them down to 64 men ex
clusive of the officers. .By this • arrangement
Lieut. David Tice and 27 of the men were com
pelled to accept discharges. (We would here
state in justice to Mr. Tice that we have it from
the best authority that it was against his most
earnest protestations that his name was erased.
But either he, or Mr. Missimer must fall, and the
latter proved the'raostfortunate. So far as we
„know the same remarks apply to the privates.)—
At about 4 o'clock in the afternoon the orders to
prepare for their departure immediately. were
re
ceived„ The Company'-was drawn up before the
Read Quirters, where the whole regiment, named
the 6th, was supplied with percussion muskets arid
ammunition, blankets,,,. anti haversacks., They
then proceeded to the il.ennayt vAn is Railroad and
were allotted two cars (frieght Cara, supplied with
wooden benches,) in whieh they stowed them
selves not knowing what moment they would
leave. On Monday morning at a quarter before
8 o'clock they started amid the cheers of- thou
sands-assembled around the depot. We had the
last interview with our brave boys as the cars
started, and are proud to say that if any change
was perceptible in their countenances it was a
more enthusiastic and determined one than ever.
Of course their destination is not accurately
known, but as they took the road for Philadelphia
it is presumed that they sail for Annapolis and
thence by land to Washington.

by extraordinary elforts'itx the *.ity of 'tritin 7
pitting the dualities of the Bitters, but a solid
estimation of an invaluable medicine, uhich is
desliped to be es enduring as time itself.
Hostetter's Stomach Bitters hare proved
a Godsend to regions where fever and ague
and various other bilious complaints have
counted , their!yietims by hundreds. To be
able to "state -confidently that the "Bitters"
are a certain etire - for i the 14.4pepsia and like
diseases, is to thcfpretTfrietors.a,thurce of un
alloyed pleasure. It renlip.-cE all morbid matter
from the sionmeb, purifies the blood, and
imparts renewed "vitality to the nervous system,
giviag it that tone and energy indispensable
for the restoration or health. It operates upon
the stomach, liver, and ether digestive organs,
mildly.but pow - erfully, and soon restores them
to acenditiou essential to the healthydischarge
of the functions of nature.
Elderly persons may use the Bitters daily As
per directions on the bottle, and they will lind
in it: a Stimulant peculiarly adapted to comfort
declining'Years, as it is pleasant to the palate,
invigorating to the bowels, excellent as a tonic,
and rejuvenating generally. We have the evi
dence of thousandS "aged men and WWIICII
who have experienced the benefit of using this
preparation while suff ,
erin, ,, from Stomach, de
rangements and general debility; :toting under
the advice of physicians, they have nfian
all deleterious drugs and fairly tested the
merits of this article. A few words to the
gentler sex. There are certain periods when
their cares are so harassing that many of them
sink under the trial. Thu relation of mother
and child is so absorbingly tender; that the
mother, especially if she be young;, is apt le
forget her own health in her extreme anxiety
for her infant. Should the period of maternity
arrive during the summer season, the wear of
body and mind is generally aggravated. Here,
then, is a necessity fur a stimulant to recupe
rate the:energies of the system, and enable the
mother to bear up under lter exhausting trials
and responsibilities. Nursing mothers gene
rally prefer the Bitters to all other invigora
tors that receive the endorsement of physi
cians, because it is agreeable to the taste as
well as certain to give a permanent increase
of bodily strength.
All thoSe per Sons, to whom we have particu
larly referred above, to wit: sufferers from
fever and ague, caused by malaria, diarrlicea,
dysentery, indigestion, loss of appetite, and
all diseases or derangements of the stomach,
superannuated invalids, persons of sedentary
occupation, and nursing mothers, will consult
their own physical wtlfare by giving to Hos
tetter's Celebrated Stomach Bitters a trial.
