Ist. Resolved, That we, the working men of Lebanon
county, without distinctlema of party, pelleve that our
material prosperity, our' lopes of happiness and future
security depend upon the continuance of the Union and
the perpetuity of the constitution as made by the fathers
and that in the present perilous condition of our country
ibis proper-that our voices should be raised to advise,
urge and even command our servants both,in the Nation
al and State Legislatures, to shunt by and uphold the
Federal Union in all its dignity and glory.
2d.Resolved,' TbaCin the election of a President of the
United States under the forms prescribed by the Consti
tution, we dot not recognize any just muse, or admit as
reasonable, any pretext for the abandonment of this
mighty fabric of government, founded, as it was, by
the wisdom.arid patriotism of our illustrious sires.
3d. Resolved, That under the circumstances of our pa,
talon, furnishing as we do the developing, enstaining, and
protesting power of our country's interest and ready, at
sec lay ' s cutll, freely to breast the brunt of war, we will
not deeert the gallant old Ship of Union—freighted as she
is, with the Liberty, Happiness and Prosperityof more
than twenty•live millions of human beings —so long as
one timber remains above the surging sea, or one shred
of the gloridns emblem of our national unity is to be seen
at bar mthead, •
.4th. Resolved, That we look upon the new dogma, that
secession is a right,es being fatal to the nationality of the
United States ; and that coercion of a State, and the
honestand fearless enforcomenrof the laws.hre not con
vertible terms, and we therefore urge a cordial-support
to our- national government ih the protection of its pro
perty and vindication of its authority.
sth. Resolved, That we call upon the laboring men of
each State, both North and South, to demand of their
respective legislators to reveal all laws conflicting with
the Constitution of the United States.
6th. Nesolved, That we demand of our Representatives
in Congress to accept of some honorable adjustment, if
possible without an amendment of the Constitution, that
shall' settle the difficulties now pending, and in case they
should be unable to do st 4 then return the question M.
the people. We desire oece more to be beard on this, to
us, all-Important question.
Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions bd forwar
ded to our Representative in Congress and those or our
State Legislature, and to Simon Cameron and Willihm
Bigler, and to theyrorking men of Reading,Pa_, arid Loll-
Isvllle, Hy., and published In the papers of Lebanon. '
Mr. G. Uhler moved that a committee of two in
each election district of this county be appointed
for the purpose of obtaining signatures to petitions
to the Legislature fot the repeal of the objectio
able clauses in the 95th and 96th sections of the
Penalecle. On the question being taken the
Presidenit decided the motion lost.
A similar motion for.potitions to Congress for
the adoption of the Crittenden resolutions with
Bigler's amendments, was voted upon. The mee t
ing being divided, a decision" as called for, but
the President did not entertain the call, and the
question remained undecided.'
Both the above motions were made to carry out
practically the spirit of the fifth and sixth reso
lutions of the committee, as adopted by
_the
meeting.
Messrs. L. L. Greenawalt, W:Woolisoz, Adam
Rise, Charles R. Drolly, and T. Reinoetd, a. s.,

Workingmen's Convention, at Philadelphia.
After rotes of thanks to Mt. McLane and the
Perseverance Band, Messrs: S. T. McAdam and
Win. M. Derr, Bsqrs., were called upon and ad
dressed tho meeting, after which it adjourned.
A FACT.- , -It is a notorious fact that the Repub

persistently refused to obey the Fugitive Slave
