ficient County School Superintendent, was unan
imously re-elected Stiperintendeat for the next
three years, on Monday. There was no opposi
tion, we believe. His minor was fixed the Same
as heretofore. The proceedings of the Conven

A new and very dangerous coun
terfeit has been sprung on the busi
ness community. It is a five ..dollar
note purporting to-be of the issue of
the Commonwealth. Bank. nf Phila
delphia, It is the most perfectly ex
ecuted counterfeit titer; Issued, The
only safety for the.pfiblie is to refuse
notes of this denonitriation on this
bank.until a new :plate - is . issued.

T. T. Worth, the Rev. Samuel Miller offered the
following Resolutions which were unanimously

Resolved, That it is with feelings of sincere
and deep regret, that we have hoard of the sud
den and unexpected 'remise of our aged colleague
and fellow citizen, NtriJOSR,PII BART:HAN.
Resolved, That we shall cherish the .memory
of the departed as one who has for upwards of
forty years endeavored faithfully and honorably
to discharge to the best oi li bis convictions and
abilities, the duties of editor, citizen, and the
supporter of a numerous family.
Resolved, That we deeply commisserate the ir
reparable lose occasioned by this visitation of
Providence, and condole with the afflicted family
in the heavy bereyement they are called upon to
sustain by the death of a faithful husband, an
affectionate father arid an untiring protector.
Resolved, That the Secretary be • requested to
furnish the widow and family with a, copy of
these proceedings, and that they be published in
all the paper of this county. -
