DREAM OF A QUAKER c. ADY-
There is a beautiful story told of a pions Quak

She had indulged herself in this habit until it
had increased so upon her, that rho not only
smoked her pipe n large portion of the day, hnt
frequently sat up in the bed for that purpose dur
ing the night.. After ono of those nocturnal en

she died and approached heaven. Meeting an
angle, she asked him If her name was written in
She took of lite. Be disappeared; but replied
'on returning, that be could not find it. "Oh,"
said she, "do look again; it must be there." Ile
disappeared again, bat'reihrned Wittin sorrowful
face, saying it was .not there! "Oh, said she in
agony, "it must be there ! I have on assurance
that it is there I Do look once more "' The angel
was snored to tears by her entreaties, and again
left her, to Tenera' his search. After a long ab
sence, be came back !" his face radiant with joy,
and exclaimed, "we have found it! but it was so
clouded with tobacco smoke, that we hardly see it!'
Mho-good woman upon waking, isemediately.threw
away her pipe, and never indulged in smoking,
