sir. The opposition sheets are already
filled With cries of "bribery," atc., con
sequent upon the passage of the Kansas
bill. It does not require bribery to in
duce Democrats to sustain the policy of
their party, but the probabilities are
much stronger that bribery swayed those
recreant democrats who betrayed their
colors. We should like to know if their
constituents elected them to Congress
to vote with the Republicans I and, if
:they had told them before their election
that they intended to do so, if they would
'tare been elected'?' It's the traitor that
's bribed—not the patriot. Consistency

Tun President is negotiating with Gen. Hiram
Walbridge for the use of his beautiful villa of
Ingleside, about a mile from Witehinit'on, during
the hot Season. The politt at differeftee between
the landlord and the President is a singular one.
Gen. Walbridge, objects to the yeceipt of rent,
while Mr. Buchanan positively and - properly ob

THE New Military Law,*paesed•by the late Leg.
islature, occupies some forty-seven pages of the
printed bill form, and would mike some eight or
ten columns of the Artier. Under its provisions
the militia enrollment is entirely tlispensed with,
and all volunteer companies parading, are allowed
fur every person each dayotut exceeding six
times during the year, one dollar and ilfty cents
per, deim. In addition to this, the commanding
officer of a regiment may order the companies
composing it out for an encampment parade, not
exceeding six days, once sluring each year. This
is intended as an inducement to young men, with
military ardor, who cannot well affordto lose the
time for the indulgence of it. • It will suit the
soldiers, and go far to increase Vise military spirit,
throughout the State. -
