A Lcmiikr Hwinih.b. The Sclilm-
grova Timet relates tba following : A Philadel
phia policeman brought a man named A. R.
Bryan from that city lo (kit county on Monday,
and Bryan was lodged In Jail for false pretancet.
The facts in the case as near as we can learn are
about these : Ibis man A. R. Bryan claimed tu
be a Commission Lumber merchant of Philadel
phia. Us same wlong during the beating season
with a boat he oUluod to be his own and bought
11,000 worth of lomder from McCartner A Hum
mel. He paid down 1200 and Iben proceeded to
Wllliamspurt to bd bis boat, agreeing to load
tba lam her he bought here on hie return and pay
for it. Ills boat returned without Bryan. Sup
posing be was all right the lumber was loaded on
tbe boat and taken to the city ; but Bryan never
paid more than $200 for tbs lumber. And before
tbe Ismber waa unloaded from tbe boat it Phila
delphia, Dry in lather obtained judgment against
him and had khe lumber sld out of tbe boat by
tbe Sheriff. Tbe fact that Bryan could get no
bail la the city looks bad for bin, and there la
little doubt that this whole transaction was a pre- :
meditated swindle." !
