ware adopted with the txeeption of Huntingdon ;
the Committee oalled tbe attention of Synod to
the licensing of a oaodidate lo which a protest
wa made by nine member of tbe Presbytery,
atttlng forth that hi examination waa nottaila-
factory in regard to church government. After
ooniiderablc discussion the report waa adopted
with this addition that Presbytery wat unwiat
at being hasty in licensing the candidate nndar
tha elrcumstancea. Tbe Committee on tbo Treas
urer' account reported II to bo correct, and re
commended the following assessment for the next
yeart Presbytery of Carlisle Huntingdon

O. W. Siler, a Missionary from ladle, addressed
the Synod oa tbt Missionary cause, Th Judi
cial Committee to examine Into the caseof Jame

tbe meeting of Presbytery of Carlisle held at
Fairfield. Mr. Koona not being sat i fled with
the lettlement brought the matter before Synod.

friend, George Knarr, Sr., died ia this village oa
the 23d of Ibis month, aged 01 years, months
and I day, lie was born ia too Tillage or uart
baeb, Germany, oa tht 1Mb day of February,
Ueil, and the church record ahowa that be waa
baptised and named "George" oa tbt lSlb of the
aamo aioalh, la the Lutheran church at Pinna -en.
He lived and died In that faith. In 1811,
wbea Napoleon started on hia march to Rustle,
tbe largest portloa paaaed by hia father 'a resi
dence, ooonnylng a period of tea daya. Tha facta
of that march 1 fully recorded ia history. Tbo
next veer our mend married Marie Louise vvn'
gerber. The fruit of this marriage wa fouraoot
and four daughters. In 1831, he took it In bis
bead to emigrate to America, and finally settled
where be died at Troutvllle, which local it v was
then almost a wilderness. Ho waa one of tbo
first German settlers that came to Brady town'
hip. Hia wife died about fifleea yeara ago. She
was a lady lamed for her teal and ka'iwledgeof
in doctrines ot tier I'nurch.
The deceatcd waa blessed with remarkable rood
health all hia life, and only within a fortnight of
nil deatn did be auOer bodily pain or mental
weakness. He was blotted with perfect health
during hia longand varied life on both continent a,
and, like bis wife, weadoetrloarianla a profound
sense. lie leave a nuuierou posterity la this
county. He waa tbe father of five ahlldrea, fifty
rne grandchildren aod fifty-five great grand
children. Three of bis children, alat of his
grandchildren aad even of his groat grand
children passed orer Jordan before him. Tho
survivor are, therefore, five children, forty-two
grandchildren and forty great grandohildren. Ho
